[Windows] How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 2G Firmware 3.0 with RedSn0w

My iTunes is messed up on my iPhone. I can't see anything but 2 pictures... And my phone has been running slow for some reason. This is really buggy

couple of things-do you have to backup your phone to keep contacts or will they stay in the phone. If i need to back up, how do i do it? New to all this.

Seems like some work fine and others dont, should i try it now or wait? Have unlocked and jailbroken 2g iPhone-bought it that way-using on t-mobile.

Will i have to input the apn again for the internet to work again like when i first got it?

what am i doing wrong guys? ive jailbroken every firmware. i downloaded redsnow and the 3.0 restore file. ive extracted both. once i open redsnow and go to browse. i can not find a ispw file. ive downloaded directly from the link it appears the .zip file is missing something. am i going crazy or is something wrong.

Yeah I'm having the same issue. I've jailbroken almost all the firmwares using different programs but even though I've got both items downloaded it's not showing the ipsw ?? I'm running Vista (which I'm guessing doesn't really make a difference). Any suggestions?

Download the boot files and unlock the phone again, see if that works.

Looks like you can't SSH, which is bullcrap. Got all my custom winterboard stuff ready to upload.

Okay, well first, let me ask this. Why did you resotre your iphone to 3.0 instead of updating it to 3.0? You can PM me if you still need help. I maybe able to help you...

Mine had same problem as you too.

Till I did this :

I strongly recommend you backup and restore your iPhone 2G to 3.0 firmware via iTunes BEFORE you begin this guide. By strongly recommend I mean restore to 3.0 firmware.

and rerun redsn0w.

Now it perfect.

EDIT: The phone got out of that screen by itself but now I have that screen with the iTunes icon and the usb cord... DAMN!

if u r getting Error 10 it means u need to put ur phone into Dfu mode and than restore than it should be good to go

I have the 9.99 data plan with T-mobile and when I put in the epn.tmobile.com and the wap.voicestream.com APN it says "subscription upgrade required. Your current plan is not compatible with this device. Please click here to view options." I don't want to get the full data plan for 34.99 or the one for 24.99. I wonder if there is another way around this.

I just finished downloading and install Redsnow and it works just fine, the only thing i am having issues with is that when i try to open the internet it tells me that: Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a celluar data serve. Which I am and it was working just fine before, any idea what I can do.

You need to go to settings, general, network, cellular data network.

I have not been able to get mine to work yet. It's saying I need to upgrade my subscription.

so i did it exactly as you showed but when i got to the step where i choose what options (cydia/unlock) only cydia shows up. no option to unlock. am i missing something?

can someone help please, ive downloaded the 4 files to be downloaded, i ran the redsn0w program, but im not able to find the 2g 3.0 firmware ipsw file, when i download from the link and open the zip i cant find it, please help...thx in advance

sounds like its a matter of knowing where you saved it to...
but if you are using a mac then you have to douwnload it using firefox (not safari) it wil decompress the file into its subfolders and it will be useless.
