[Windows] How to Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 2G Firmware 3.0 with RedSn0w

I restored to 3.0 successfully. The only glitch is that it won't connect to wifi automatically. I have to manually go into settings and choose my wireless ssid manually every single time! Very annoying. Anybody experiencing this? Any ideas?

I just finished downloading and install Redsnow and it works just fine, the only thing i am having issues with is that when i try to open the internet it tells me that: Could not activate cellular data network: You are not subscribed to a celluar data serve. Which I am and it was working just fine before, any idea what I can do.

Mine says the same thing! Anyone???????

Ok, I have something to add to the list of issues being encountered:

I am able to update my iPhone 2G to 3.0 OS using iTunes, and then able to follwo the steps in redsn0w - the phone responds right up until the last reboot where it displays a solid white screen and redsn0w indicates that its done...what does this mean?

It does not recover from this condition even after 15mins - strange - only way to get it back is to switch the phone off after which i get the activate emergency screen. Prior to this the phone was unlocked and jailbroken using QPwn 2.2

Any help is appreciated.

exactly same here with a little difference that i get a black screen not white :S... PLEASE HELP i cant use my phone!!!

i got scared when itunes said it didnt recognize my sim card (t-mo) but then i ran redsnow and it worked perfect. 3.0 unlocked/jb hell yeah!!!

sry for quoting myself here, but i just wanted to show u the problem i had...

anyways, i used another computer and it worked perfectly... dunno why, just try another pc with a fresh install of itunes 8.2... might work for u 2 hopefully...

i got 3.0 on my phone. there is no video camera app. is it only for the new 3gs

Unfortunately this J/B works correctly for about 50% of the people who have tried it, and the rest just keep plugging along ticked off and I understand that.
The fix seems to be, just keep trying, It is the nature of pwnage.
Most all have had luck by simply putting the phone in DFU mode/restore with a fresh copy of 3.0 and continue going through the jailbreak process.
Not what you want to hear I know, but this seems to work. Just don't get frustrated and keep trying.

After I enter DFU mode it wont reboot. Am i missing something?

Nope I'm on youtube just fine, the new youtube is great allows you to read/post comments now and the interface looks a bit different

havent tried to ssh yet will report back if it works, to ssh all thats needed is ssh and community sources right?

Solved my youtube problem restoring, (not updating like the last time).
Conclusion: If Dev Team says "RESTORE" you have to RESTORE

I have an iPhone 2g that i just upgraded from fw 2.2.1 that was jail broken, to fw 3.0 and now is jail broken, using Redsn0w. Everything worked great, Cydia and youtube work fine, i can make calls, receive and send sms, receive voice and email but for some reason i could not receive phone call. occasionally one or two phone calls with get through. But most of the time When someone calls me, they hear a rings until it hits my voice mail but my phone doesnt ring. I've restored it and jail broke it about 3 or 4 times and i keep on have having the same problem!

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated!!

I tried to restore my iphone using shift-restore, then selecting the iphone 3.0 restore firmware, but during the restore, i get an error saying error during restore.

now my iphone 2g is stuck in recovery mode, can someone help?!?!

make sure you have the latest copy of iTunes.
Put your phone DFU mode/restore/run the jailbreak.

yea, blkcadis right, first attempt to jailbreak i got that error, definitely make sure your running 8.2 itunes

One question, can you UNLOCK but NOT Jailbreak the iphone??? Just a question..What do you advice? Should I include cydia or not? What are the best things on Cydia you can get (explain)?

The thing is I use the iphone for basic ****. Safari, Mail, SMS, and mostly Facebook! Also I use mostly the app store to get apps. Im not into the SSH and everything.

Another question(s) is this. I uploaded from 2.2.1 to 2.2 a whillllle back. But when I did the process, it got rid of my jailbreak but not the unlock..? My iphone was a little slower with the jailbreak and after I got 2.2 i reallt didnt want the jailbreak again.

So guys, a little help for the semi-noob. hehe
