i cant seem to fnd the IPSW file to browse to. Downloaded 2 seperate files from the pirate bay and both were unjable to recognize and the the one i downloaded from this site i cant even browse to cause there there is no IPSW file in the zip folder. I must be doing something wrong can someone please help me?

It's not a zip file, it's an ipsw. If it has a .zip extension rename it to .ipsw

i bet ur using safari to download the ipsw
dont use it it doesnt download it rite
use another browser like mozilla firefox

Compress the file.
After compression, remove ".zip" and add ".ipsw" to the end of the file.

i got all the way down the steps until "downloading jailbreak....." then my phone restarts and nothing changed... what am i doing wrong?

after the last step, my mobile displays a message saying "Downloading Jailbreak Data" and then nothing happens and the msg stays on the screen, without jailbreaking the phone...
Could you please let me know the reason for this..

so i've jailbroken and unlocked my 3G twice using redsn0w and ultrasnow. i'm currently using firmware 3.0 and i'm considering an update to 3.1.2 but i still have 4.26 baseband so obviously i don't want to update through iTunes. i've already downloaded a copy of the 3.1.2 firmware but redsn0w specifically says to use your "CURRENT" firmware version. knowing that i don't want to update via iTunes can i just choose the 3.1.2 firmware in redsn0w use this as a way of updating? thanks in advance for any help you can give

ps if the answer is yes should i restore my iphone before beginning this process or can i run redsn0w on my already jailbroken & unlocked phone?

You need to use pwnage to upgrade without updating your BaseBand. You'll need to use a mac.

Any guess on how long it should take? The screen has been blank for about 30 minutes and the window still says waiting to reboot.
