[Windows] How to Jailbreak iPhone 3G Firmware 3.0 with RedSn0w

Verify you have the proper firmware
Launch itunes and restore phone, shift+restore select FW
Wait for the entire process and let itunes activate phone.
Once phone is done and activated launch redsnow
Follow instructions from redsnow any more help let me know

did u download the ispw file with firefox cause if u did all u would have to do is go to ur download folder and thats where it would be hope that helps

SO i downloaded redsn0w and the firmware file here and everything downloads great i extract all the file but then i go to run redsn0w and look for ispw file but i cant find it in the firmware file or the redsnow file i tried redownloading but that did not work

any ideas anybody?

Did you follow the example on the first post, it should be there. Perhaps re-read it.
Keep trying, you'll be good to go.

Worked well for me. It got stuck and wouldn't go into DFU mode, but worked after the third try. Thanks for this. LOL, I didn't update to iTunes 8.2 first, so doing it now.

Spoke too soon. Phone isn't activated. Doing again and activating prior to using redsn0w. Hopefully it works this time.

Can anyone help a noobie? The 3.0 ipsw download link at in the guide is not giving me a workable firmware file. I download it, extract it, and get "file not found" Shouldn't there be an square icon with a musical note? Ive DL'd six times now from the MMI site and still no luck. Anyplace I can get the iphone 1,1_3.0_7A341 restore.ipsw file?

Ok,I have to admit I havent hacked in months and I only have one question. My iPhone is currently jailbroken with 2.2.1 firmware. I understand that I am suppose to restore before attempting redsn0w,but do I apply my backup after restoring from 2.2.1 to 3.0. Thank You in advance

Hi all, question - Okay I have not updated my phone to 3.0 yet in Itunes, now I have itunes 8.2 and do I simply click shift restore then load the ipsw for iphone 3.0 then let itunes finish, once i have the iphone 3.0 on my Iphone 3g I then start the redsnow process correct?

Ok, I have a question.

I just bought my first iPhone on June 10th. I upgraded to 3.0 the day it came out. I just backed up and restored my iPhone as recommended in the OP. I am now at the iPhone setup in iTunes. My question is, do I setup as a new iPhone or restore from my backup which I just made?

Back up is regain all files, music, photos, contacts, etc.
New phone is like brand new fresh out the box

is your iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw end up as a iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ZIP File? if so all you have to do is rename it to .ipsw and redsnow will be able to find it..do not extract that zip file..it won't work

Does anybody know whats up with the hanging "Waiting for reboot" screen? I'm going to wait another couple of minutes and see if any progress is made; however, I've already been waiting for about 5 mins. :/
