I feel like an idiot, I download the Restore.ipsw zip file and when I extract it to a folder I get folders and file icons NOT the "cube with the music note". What am I doing wrong? Can someone please help me as I will be using redsnow with my 2G. Thank you!!!!!!

it might be in that rar folder if it i just extract it if it isnt u have to chage the file extension of that forlder to .ipsw then it will get the folder and file icon

also i think Cydia is getting bombarded now and their server is giving me an error via my iphone .....i must wait to install winterboard

I can see how some people just wouldnt bother answering of this questions. Guys can you at least "read" the "main post"

Here's the rundown:

Runs on Windows.
Runs on OS X (Intel only, but they are working out a bug to have PPC support up shortly)
JAILBREAKS iPhone 3G.
JAILBREAKS and UNLOCKS iPhone 2G.
DOES NOTHING to iPhone 3GS.
JAILBREAKS iPod Touch 2G.
JAILBREAKS iPod Touch 1G.

Just jb my iphone 2g and my 3g everything went along just fine (thanks dev team!) But the home page in cydia wont open. Does any know know how i could fix this?

So, am I right in thinking that if I used redsn0w to jailbreak my iphone 3G, running the 3.0 OS now, I'll still be able to use my phone on my official o2 contract that I bought it with, BUT I'll still have the option to unlock it with ultrasn0w at a later date once it is released?

Can someone explain the differences of doing it in Redsnow or Pwnage tool on a mac for a 2g Iphone, not how it's done but is Redsnow better? I have always used Pwnage tool and it has always worked great for me, are there advantages for using Redsnow? I didn't see any explanations in the thread, I didn't search the whole forum though.

Great... Everytime redsn0w is at the Downloading Jailbreak Data stage it crashes. Anyone have a solution?

SOLUTION:
Type ".ipsw" (without quotes) at the end of the file name. This will change it back to the format you need!

I just jailbroke mine with no problems downloaded is ipsw and the redsnow and it worked no problem
