Thanks dude for the guide.
Im going to update my iTunes to 8.2 right now. Then update my iPhone 2G to FW3.0 I will then run Redsn0w 0.7.1 and jailbreak my iPhone 2G and it will still be unlock. Ill report back on how it goes!

This might have been asked before, but whats with the 3GS that it cant be jailbroken? All these threads say "NOT" for 3GS"...so I was just wondering if anyone knew why or if the Dev team has said why it doesn't work on the 3GS..Thanks

Im also curious about this.... How come no jailbreak for iPhone 3GS 3.0FW? or is there? I think quickpwn would be the one if its released...

Same here, I installed OpenSSH and updated Cydia but it just keeps crashing when I open it

well i update cydia and install openssh and then i connected to the iphone via WinSCP and now have my custom SMS tone installed....so far so good....but i haven't tried the mobileinstalltion crack , not sure if i wanna push my luck

My friend wants to update his iPhone 2g to 3.0 and unlock and jailbreak. Should he use Redsn0w or wait for Ultrasn0w? I've noticed a lot of people are having problems with the iPhone 2g when jailbroken to 3.0 firmware.

yeah my cydia opens but once I try to update openssl it just crashes

great success! finally figured i'd upgrade to 3.0 today. jb and running smoother than ever. cydia was a little weird but once it updated it's fine.

use firefox when downloading the firmware. It will not download it as a zip file

if your already on the 3.0 firmware and just want to jailbreak then go straight the RedSnow , if your on 2.2.1 or lower then update via itunes to 3.0 then do the redsnow
