How to Jailbreak/Unlock/Activate iPhone 2G on 3.0 Firmware - PwnageTool

Why should I "not even bother" if I uncheck both Cydia and Icy? They're both app installers right? I just want to unlock, NOT jailbreak. Is it necessary to leave one checked?

here is the 2g unlocked activated with a 750mb partition and custom boot logo but not custom restore logo. this is mine and its on a 100mbit server so it should go quickly, feel free to share the link.

it will only work if you have a pwned iphone. follow the guides on here for how to use it. there are way more straight forward and better explained than i could do

man after all day with 1600 errors 1604. Finaly found a way to do it. Trust me this does work cause i was in the same boat as all u with the error. Thanks to someone who post a comment on the iphone dev team blog. here u guys go. Mine is restoring right now! finally..good god. Thanks button is much appreciated!

1. Find a custom 3.0 firmware for your iphone model created by a mac user.
2. download and install winpwn 2.5.0.2 from the official website.
3. download an older firmware supported by winpwn such as 2.0.2 as well as the bootloader files (3.9+4.6) if you have a 2g iphone.
4. use winpwn and follow the directions until it asks you to connect the iphone and go into dfu mode. the application will crash and leave your iphone with a blank white screen.force quit the app using task manager.
5. Now use itunes to restore the iphone with the custom firmware obtained in step 1.

Seems to be the easiest that I have tried yet and it worked the first time like a charm.

Omg. I don't know what happened but when i followed that... (which was really what I had been doing all along...) it worked!!!

I think I might not have completely gotten into DFU mode... after i did, it went all white flash on me and it's all good now.

hey. can i update to itunes 8.2 on my mac safely now? or not yet... i have iphone 3g's and 2gs. and i want to do the update to 3.0 on 2g and wait for ultrasnow on 3gs . let me know! thanks!

ummm. if you're on a mac, upgrade to the 10.5.7
it helped me.

Also... make sure you actually got into DFU.
I think why i failed in the past was cause i never got into the proper DFU mode... (even though it was black, it didn't get through to itunes etc). you know you're in DFU if itunes recognises it and then when you restore it flashes white.

which internet plan is everyone using for 3.0 on the 2g iphone? Im currently on the tzone plan for my 2.2.1 i just wanted to make sure before update i'll still have internet.
