How to Jailbreak/Unlock/Activate iPhone 2G on 3.0 Firmware - PwnageTool

I have done everything by the books. I have a first generation iphone running 2.1., on itunes 8.2 I downloaded pwnage 3.0 restore.ipsw, as well as pwnagetool. The problem arises when the custom restore ipsw is being built. It attempts to build the custom ipsw, however after about 10 seconds it closes, and there is no custom built ipsw. Do I need to upgrade to 2.2 first? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks

I'm on 3.0, everything is ok on my phone.

Youtube works.
there is no MMS for 2g iphone.

Alright, I finally got my 1G iphone on 3.0.
I get the 1600 error message because I put it in DFU mode. Somehow I got it out of dfu mode and it went to the homescreen. I just had to use the shift+retore key using the custom 3.0 file.

Same problem with my 2G. Error 1600. If your phone was previously jail broken, you gotta put your phone in Recovery Mode not DFU mode to upgrade it in itunes.

Get out of DFU mode by holding the power and home button. It's best to have it plugged in, that way you hear the sound from when the device powers down. Turn it back on and it should boot up normally.

Get into Recovey Mode by holding the home button and then plug in the USB cable. You'll see the logo pop up on the screen and you're in. Now, update your pwned firmware in itunes.

alright try this if ur getting the 1600 error
dfu mode
hold power and home for 15 seconds
release power
hold home for two more seconds
your phone should either be in restore mode or at the home screen
try and restore with the custom
ive tried it and it worked for my 3g
so what the hell give it a shot

Okay I got the update with custom firmware to work. BUT there's not bootneuter! It didn't unlock. So has anyone made a cf 3.0 for 2g that includes the bootnutering? Help!

i currently am in the process of uploading 3 custom firmware files to my server in this order

2G iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Custom_Unlocked_Activated_Rest ore.ipsw

750mb root partition
Cydia and Icy
Custom boot logo but not restore logo

2G iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore.ipsw (for ATT only)

750mb root partition
Cydia and Icy
Custom boot logo but not restore logo

3G iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Custom_Restore.ipsw (for ATT only)

750mb root partition
Cydia and Icy
Custom boot logo but not restore logo

i will then upload the torrent files to the p-bay or somewhere else, not sure yet, but for any and all windows users hang in there as its gonna take awhile.

man after all day with 1600 errors 1604. Finaly found a way to do it. Trust me this does work cause i was in the same boat as all u with the error. Thanks to someone who post a comment on the iphone dev team blog. here u guys go. Mine is restoring right now! finally..good god. Thanks button is much appreciated!

1. Find a custom 3.0 firmware for your iphone model created by a mac user.
2. download and install winpwn 2.5.0.2 from the official website.
3. download an older firmware supported by winpwn such as 2.0.2 as well as the bootloader files (3.9+4.6) if you have a 2g iphone.
4. use winpwn and follow the directions until it asks you to connect the iphone and go into dfu mode. the application will crash and leave your iphone with a blank white screen.force quit the app using task manager.
5. Now use itunes to restore the iphone with the custom firmware obtained in step 1.

Seems to be the easiest that I have tried yet and it worked the first time like a charm.

Restored and now everything is great, running on T-Mobile.

DO NOT like the new search function on the springboard. That's gotta go. Faster, cleaner, so far I like it a lot.

Hey thanks for the advice.

I updated to 10.5.7 and now itunes actually recognises DFU mode.
So here's what happened next. when I tried to restore (in DFU mode) with my custom 3.0 firmware (pwnage tool), it comes back with 1600 error.

I'm going to try recovery mode and the custom firmware jailbreak. hope it works.
