Just hours away here in North America from the iPhone 3G S! If you wanted one, you should have pre-ordered it last week. For those of you that didn't we have some advice:

USA

AT&T stores will be open to the pre-orderers only between 7 am and 9 am. If you didn't pre-order you'll need to be inline early in the morning, 5-6 am in many areas, to have a shot of grabbing an iPhone 3G S. We don't expect AT&T stores to have large quantities on hand.

Apple stores are insane on iPhone days and are all opening at 7 am. At popular Apple stores there are ALREADY people waiting in line. The plus side is Apple stores typically have more stock of iPhones so more people can get them there. Unless you are in one of those areas when people started camping yesterday (you know who you are NYC) you can probably snag a iPhone 3G S if you start standing in line about the same time as the AT&T folks.

Best Buy and Walmarts are hidden gems. Many of these stores should have the iPhone 3G S for sale, just beware, quantities will probably be less than at Apple and AT&T stores. You probably wont even see a line if you are 3-4 hours early. Later in the morning as the Apple and AT&T stores run out of stock expect to see people scrambling to Best Buys and Walmarts.

Canada

Apple Stores should open up at 8 am. Be in line by 6 am. Rogers / Fido is opening at normal times (maybe, no one seems to know) so be in line some hours early. They could surprise everyone and open early after all.

Hidden Gem: FutureShop has iPhones. From what I can tell not many people are aware of that fact, might be the least wait place to be.

Do you have iPhones at Best Buy and Walmart? Do you have Walmart? If the answer to the first or both is yes then they will probably (just guessing here, haven't heard anything official) have the iPhone 3G S for sale, same rules apply as with the USA stores above.

Ordered mine on the 10th. But was just shipped today so Fedex says delivery on monday the 22nd. I'm sick of this Razr V9 i'm using since I already sold the 3G on ebay. LOL


Update; It was delivered today friday the 19th!!!!

Well why you all are enjoying your new iPhone 3GS in about 5 hours I've got to wait an extra week in Aus! Yay for us - not! So I guess I'll be waiting outside Apple Store in QLD next Friday morning to pick up my new iPhone - still have no prices here which sucks to the max!

Not getting one this year. Tow reasons....
1) Have to pay $700 to upgrade to a 32GB
2) not enough to convice me to upgrade (just a compass, video recording, and a bit better guts that don't even top the Pre) NOT ENOUGH
I was kinda disapointed this year I guess I was just hopeing for a little too much with all those rumors and those mock ups specially that one where the iPhone is laying on the sidewalk with video coference. We'll see what next year has for us...

if the 3gs was as thin as the ipod touch then i would have sold my car to buy it!
