why don't we all wait and let the DEV Team do what they need to do. i'm quite sure it's not just as simple as the youtube.app not working because they could just release and fix the youtube app later.

So these iPhone 3g are still worth their weight due to the fact they can be jailbroken and unlocked where as the 3gs can not!

- MMS works (Vodafone/ALL carriers in Europe support...have been for years now)
- Push??? no noticable diff in e-mail...
- Safari does not lagg and cash is working great
- Landscape/landscape/landscape is everywhere... KEWL!!!
- copy paste ok
- paired my MOT stereo BT headset and can "rockout with my cables out" :-)
- No Compass - its a 2g I believe this function only works on the 3GS

Has anyone else had the same success?

Wait wait wait.......SO WOULD IT BE BETTER FOR ME TO WAIT? BECAUSE IM JAILBROKEN AND UNLOCKED ON 2.2.1 2G IPHONE? SOMEBODY HELP ME OUT PLZ? ICLARIFIED SAID SOMETHING ABOUT 2G IPHONES CAN UPDATE TO 3.0 THRU ITUNES AND NOT LOSE JAILBROKEN-NESS AND UNLOCK?

nopei just did this on a unlocked and jailbroken iphone 2g 2.21 on tmobile and it locked my phone.

Hacktivated means that your iPhone is running another carrier like t-mobile so it can't be legally activated it has to skip activation so its "hacktivated".

The YouTube bug will not effect anyone using AT&T. :P

Ok went through all seven pages of this thread and I believe this question hasn't been asked, if I am on just a jailbroken 3G (firmware 2.2.1, not hacktivated) will it be fine if I upgrade to 3.0 using the regular iTunes upgrade and not lose the ability to jailbreak 3.0 later? Or is this something not known yet?

It will be okay for you to upgrade to 3.0....And join the rest of us waiting for the J/B to be released. But if your phone is unlocked then just hold off in till the ultrasnow gets released.

I believe you first have to first,uninstall itunes and apple mobile device support, reinstall previous version of itunes, then download your previous firmware, then restore your previous firmware with previous version of itunes.

It actually is possible to do. I found a site last night that describes the method to do it. I don't have the link, its at home on my computer but basically what I remember is that iphone 3.0 os only works with itunes 8.2 and apple released new usb drivers for the iphone that won't let it work with previous versions of itunes, even when iphone is in dfu mode. They have some software block that doesn't let 3.0 downgrade the phone to any previous version. The workaround was to uninstall itunes 8.2 and Apple mobile device drivers and then install itunes 8.2 beta. The guide said they didn't have new drivers for 8.2 beta and it is able to downgrade.I know itunes 8.2 won't let you downgrade as I played around with it on my iphone 2g 8gb last night. I will try to remember to post the link. Hope that helps some.
