Anyone have any idea how AT&T and the like plan on tracking tethered internet tracking once its "officially" released?
I already had tethering on my jailbroken 2.2.1 iPhone 3g via pdaNet and as long as I used for small thing like checking the email or surfing the web and not for downloading large files I was able to remain under the radar and use it freely.
I would like to use the built-in tethering capabilities instead of a 3rd party app but at the same time I dont have any desire to pay AT&T any more money than I already do. Especially for a service that should already be included...
So the question is how will tethered vs. untethered internet traffic be determined?

I can confirm that is working and that it was very easy and quick. I would be more excited if the MMS was working, but I'm sure that will be fixed soon.
On a diff. note, and please correct me if I'm wrong, this "hack" reminds me of the old days of jailbreak on the go on your iPhones using safari. Can that be possible again? Just a question!
Later,
RaModRaMod!
If I helped you out, please press
... thanks!
=The iPhone?!...wait!...what happened!?=

Does anyone even take the time to read a thread before asking a question?
-- Tethering does not work on 2G.
-- Tethering may not work with all providers.
-- No one knows if you will see an additional charge on your bill for this tethering hack.
-- This thread has nothing to do with MMS.
(But to clarify, AT&T is working on the MMS thing, there is no hack to make it work, they simply do not support it on our phones yet)
-- This thread has nothing to do with jailbreaking.
(DevTeam is working on it, there will be announcements made when it is available)
Next time, read the thread before flooding it with questions that have already been answered.

think you need a iphone specific driver to use this on xp using USB. BT might be a better bet.
If i say something stupid I apologize. If i say something smart: "RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH".
And if i help you, please hit the Thanks!

mac users would not tell me either, i just had to go google mad.
try different settings in your network thingy.
i was tethered but could not load pages, just went to my network settings and tried a few options.
it was an ethernet setting eventually, i have no idea why.

why would anyone alter their iphone to make use of this feature and NOT KNOW how to make it work. it seems strangely odd to me that someone would browse to an unknown web site, alter the carrier authorized settings and then come onto the forums and ask "how do i make it work"
