Ok, this news is great but I have a question for the masses. Has Winterboard's problems been fixed for 3.0? This is a big deal for me since everything the new 3.0 FW has most of us jailbreakers have already had for a while (video recording, I have landscape typing, etc). If Winterboard is not working properly, then I might wait until it is ready. Plus, I have a 2G and want to upgrade to 3GS since I did not upgrade to the 3G. But since the new hardware has not been broken yet, I will be waiting until that point. No rush for me getting new hardware or upgrading to 3.0 the day they are released.

I believe Saurik fixed the Winterboard problems and as this is an official Dev Team release it will work.

LOL!! I am glad to hear this and I am not glad to hear this. I'm glad, of course, because Winterboard is hands down a must for all jailbreaking activites for me. I'm not glad to hear this because now I cant rationalize to myself that I dont want/need a 3GS since last I heard Winterboard was not working correctly. Damn!! Well, I will be getting a MacBook Pro tomorrow so hopefully that will tide me over until I get my new phone.

And I dont know if this has been asked, but does anyone know the exact time for the live demo by the dev team (EST)?

You can still rationalise that you don't want a 3GS because this WILL NOT WORK on the 3GS - it is for the 3G ONLY.

They can't unlock the 3Gs yet.

I know this isnt for the 3GS, I hope they will be able to unlock the 3GS soon.

I've read all of the posts and there seems to be conflicting info: Does anybody know with any level of certainty if 3G phones with bootloader GREATER than 5.08 (which is currently UNLOCKABLE) - will be unlockable with this release?

I can say with a 100% degree of certainty that you obviousness have not read this thread very carefully and have missed the MULTIPLE references to "this unlock is for EVERYONE"! The term "everyone" is all encompassing which means it doesn't exclude anyone. If you need further explanation of these terms I can link you to dictionary.com or something k thanks.

I know that. I meant at some point in time the 3GS will be jailbroken (Im with ATT, so I dont care about unlocking).

I need 3.0 fw on my iphone so i can rent movies on the iphone whenever i want but this has been a feature on Sprint maybe 3-5 years ago on its A900 phones if anyone can remember. Thanks for the clarification unlocking the 1st gen and Thanks so much Dev Team!
