Ok, everybody is happy, me too, BUUUT, what about the iTunes 8.2??? I read here they did something to iTunes 8.2 that mess with the quickpwn, am I right or wrong???

will this work with the iPhone 8 gig 2G? I bought mine unlocked already, so i dont know the steps to unlock it. where and how would i begin to put 3.0 on it and get it unlocked like it is now? really easy terms if you can please!!

Hi all,

I am sort of new to this, well not new, but out of the game for a while since I haven't messed with my 1st gen iphone after I unlocked it.

So I have 1st iphone, and my I went into Settings>General>About> and
here's what I have:
Version 2.2 (5G77)
Modem Firmware (baseband, I am guessing): 04.05.04_G

With that, will I be able to still unlock and jailbreak 3.0???!! I want it soooo badly!! I hope I can!! I am on t-mo!

It will unlock your 3GS like previously stated.

It hasn't been Jailbroken.. I think they will need some time to get around with the 3G S.. but first of all, they need the 3G S

1st gen will always be unlockable.

All devices that can be jailbroken now wll be jailbroken at 3.0 firmware.

The only news is that, from what stealth has said, they have managed to unlock the .09 bootloader / 3.0 3G baseband which got updated at 3.0.

There is no news of a 3GS jailbreak / unlock so dont go rushing out buying a 3G S contract free, you will be disappointed.

Unlocking the new baseband is great news. Hell, if theyve found a hole in the bootloader like .08 then we the 3G will always be unlockable like the 2G is, which is great news.

The 3G S is a whole new ball game people.

AND

if, just if, Apple had any brains they would have expected something like this and held back on some 3.0 features initially, waiting to see what the dev team do then promptly release 3.1 or 3.0.1 or whatever so people lock up their iphones again.

I just really hope this is a bootloader exploit and not the new 04.26.08 because im sure Apple can patch it easily, just like the 02.28 to 02.30 update.

Just to re-iterate what Reeko has already said:

1st Gen - is always unlockable so no need to worry, when a new FW is released you just need to wait for a jailbreak.

3G - This is an updated yellowSn0w so not a permmanent unlock but all existing devices will be able to update to FW3.0 with BB 4.26 and unlock using YellowSn0w regardless of existing FW or BB
You should not update your FW beyond 3.0 without checking at the Dev-Team blog as Apple will almost certainly release an updated FW to block the exploit found.

3GS - Can NOT be jailbroken or unlocked. The Dev Team will now be able to devote their time to it but with new hardware who knows how long it will take. Do not expect updates from them on progress. Do not feed the cat.
