Well if anyone is going to sue over anything, it should be U2. That's their lyrics from "I still haven't found what I'm looking for" - Joshua Tree Album.

Taiwan is just a province of China, it's in the Taiwanese constitution.
Taiwan-based companies do better in product design simply because Taiwan has a longer history in modern industry - just like those Japanese companies - they start as out-sourcing factories, then copy others design, then have their own design, while in the rest of China that is governed by the communist party, they barely started it 15 years ago...
But shame on Meizu anyway, I doubt they will be able to release the product by early next year.

If it ever makes it to market, I'll buy one just to test out. Especially if it's cheaper than another iPhone.

You guys better wake up and smell the coffee on your precious apple hardware. This phone and the iphone are likely all made from the same exact parts. They simply don't have the firmware and OS. Slight exterior change and that's about it.Here you have it, what looks to be a (re-touched) photograph of a real engineering sample of the Meizu MiniOne (M8). The picture was posted by CEO, Jack Wong, with the promise of more pictures to come in a "few days." At the moment, the 58 x 105 x 11.8-mm M8 is said to carry a spec list which includes a 667MHz ARM11 processor running a Windows CE 6.0 kernel up on a 3.3-inch, 720 x 480 pixel touchscreen display. The MiniOne M8 model will pack GSM with EDGE data while the MiniOne M8 w ("w" for worldphone we presume) is said to go WCDMA/HSDPA/GSM/EDGE. WiFi, Bluetooth, and what appears to be a 3 megapixel camera also come standard with your choice of 4, 8, and 16GB of flash capacities. While we've seen pricing and an "end of 2007" release date before, the specs have changed so dramatically since then that we'll just have to continue holding tight as this pup evolves. You know, if they can actually push this wunderkind out the door.
Why do you think all the hundreds of thousands of touch and iphone screens are failing? It all comes from the same electronics distributor in China. The only difference is in the programming.
If this one has dual cameras and 3G with an unlocked sim don't snuff at it just because of it's name.... it was all made in the same factory.
It's likely $300 less and half the BS of the apple firmware, plus 3g, unlocked to boot and made in china just like the iphone.
.....AND IT WORKS THE SAME. Scrolling screens, touch panel, icon links.
Watch and see if I am not standing at the ebay sellers door that puts these out without all the apple BS. Quality will not be a variable issue being all the same chinese parts. It will run WM6CE, but hey there is a LOT out there for WM6. We just never had an iPhone made by anyone else before so we have been made to succumb to the apple iron fist. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck and is made from the same thing the duck is made from but it DOESN'T BRICK...... I'm gonna feed the duck.
I LOVE my iPhone, but damn Apple has made it hard to love. This phone looks like the iPhone, it appears to work like the iPhone. If the OS is even remotely stable it will likely be a peach to mod with everything that is already out there for WM6. BSOD? Hey that fixes itself with a reboot, not a REFORMAT and a trip to AT&T and the Apple store.
I bought the iPhone because I wanted all the cool features like we all did. Apple was the only people doing this for so long now, but there have been MANY imitations that superseded the original. This MIGHT be one of them.
HELLO........ CUT AND PASTE ANYONE? FLASH ANYONE? ADOBE ANYONE? 3G ANYONE? UNLOCKED ANYONE? Yes indeed. VIDEO? I bet $100 the answer is YES!
I'll be watching this one to see how it plays out. There are enough skins out there and themes to make anything look like the exact same menu you are looking at now and this one appears to already have them all. This is the first time in 5 years I would like to NOT have an APPLE OS.
The only thing missing from this phone is the strangle hold Apple has on it's customers that have prompted even the loyalists to rethink their position in customer to Apple relations.
What it does do.... and apple doesn't......

This might give a better comparison between the two. But no matter what Meizu M8 still no match to the real Iphone because it doesnt have its own originality everything this phone has was just a copy of a real thing.
The Specs Comparison

M8 = 105 (h) x 57 (w) x 11.5 (d) mm

M8 = 3.3 inches
Screen Resolution:

M8 = 720 x 480
Input Method:

M8 = Standard touchscreen
Storage:

M8 = 2 models at 4GB and 8GB non-removable flash memory
Camera:

M8 = 3.0 megapixels plus one 0.3-mega pixels on front for video calling

Who cares? If the Meizu and the Nokia actually bring these things to market, maybe steve will pull his head out of his rectum and unlock the damned iphones. (Yes, I know, wishful thinking. Ain't gonna happen because of his contractual obligations to AT&T).
