You all do realize that the prices after doing this "trick" are the same exact as walking into an Apple store and paying full price for the phone with no commitment. . .

This trick does not seem to work in the Apple Canada store. I tried it on Apple USA and it worked fine. Tried the same on Apple Canada and when I click add to cart to add it, it shows and empty window.

He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

The price after tax ain't worth it. I'll go the early termination route.

No, I know that the apple store hack is for an unsubsidized phone but I was saying people were talking about getting a non-contract phone from AT&T store or the Apple Store so I was wondering if that was true. I had no idea you could just pick up a full price phone ala the first gen phones. You couldn't do that for 3g could you?

^It would mean you arent eligible for an upgrade with AT&T being a current customer with a contract. Not prepaid.

So wait a second, does this mean once they are released I can go to an apple store and buy one, without a contract, for full price? I thought with the 3G you could only buy it if you extended your AT&T contract, I didnt think you could just buy the phone.
I just want the phone, I don't care about the price
EDIT: Or is this the only time I could buy a 3GS without being an AT&T customer?Last edited by willryan42; 06-11-2009 at 02:37 PM.

I ordered one. They only let you order one at a time apparently because I tried getting 3 and they said I had too many in my cart :P
And I plan on selling a few on eBay because I'm sure they'll be going for well above the $600-$700 that I paid if the last two years are any indication.

Ummm yeah, good luck with that.
If thats a true unsubsidized, non-contract price....then why would someone who could buy one from Apple for $700, want to buy one from you for more?? The reason they sold for more than retail before is because it was a contract discounted price.
