Apple Releases another Push Notifications Test App
On June 10th, 7 days before the release of the highly anticipated OS 3.0, Apple released the second push notification test app. This time it is the AOL's AIM Developer Preview app. Developers received the following email:
Help Test the Apple Push Notification Service
Dear Developer,
As a developer actively working with iPhone OS, we would like your help in a private test of the Apple Push Notification service. For this test, we have selected AOL's AIM Developer Preview for iPhone OS 3.0 to create a high-volume test environment for our servers.
To participate, we ask that you follow these steps:
1.
Download AIM Developer Preview for iPhone OS 3.0 from the iTunes Store via your desktop by entering this unique redemption code in the 'Redeem' section of iTunes, found under the 'Quick Links' section:
**********
Note: the functionality of the application will expire in seven days.
2.
Install the application on a development device running iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed by synching it to iTunes. This application can only be installed on devices running iPhone OS 3.0 GM Seed.
3.
Launch the application and accept to receive Push Notifications when prompted. You can log in with any existing AOL, AIM, .mac or MobileMe account.
4.
If you do not receive notifications from the app within 48 hours after installation, let us know.
We appreciate your assistance,
iPhone Developer Program
The app functions quite nicely and the push notifications bring a much need upgrade to an instant messenger app.
Badge Appears to show you any missed messages:

Pop Appears for every incoming IM:

The possibilities for push on the iPhone is amazing. The next coming weeks is going to be an exciting time for 3.0 upgraders.
Enjoy!

Only 6 more days left? No way! Can't wait!
Its like waiting for the betas, but only sooner.
Can't wait to try out meebo, TomTom, and all those other cool games.
And of course, can't wait for a jailbreak.

LMFAO!
You guys are hilarious. I should have taken screenshots from my test phone. Sorry the jailbreak won't be available till after the release of the iPhone 3GS.

he is not on beta 5 cause AIM wont sync to beta 5 (according to apple)... you need 3.0 GM ... so dat means he has 3.0 GM jailbroken and he is just not disclosing how he did it....
cmon stealth....
why not stealth....Last edited by rahullsk; 06-11-2009 at 09:52 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

If the jailbreak was made public before the official release of 3.0/ 3GS, it might be possible for apple to secure any loophole used for it in the fnal release, undoing all the hard work put into it.
