ok that was fast... didn't work for me. Said my iphone could not be restored. I'm guessing that's because my iPhone isn't registered? Restoring 2.2.1 now.

I havent read all the pages but here is some info that some people may find useful.

I have just downloaded the GM 3.0 for my iPhone 3G. It downloaded as a .ipsw.zip file, i simply deleted the .zip on the end and it became the .ipsw file i needed.

I then restored in iTunes and it went through first time. I am on a dev UDID account, BUT, after restoring the iPhone didnt do the whole UDID check thing, it just activated as normal.

What im saying is - if you dont have a dev spot for your UDID code i am pretty sure you will be ok to restore to the 3.0 GM.

And secondly, i went to messages and then O2 sent me 2 texts, one saying they where activating MMS and then a picture to show me that MMS was activated. it works a treat.

Am just trying tethering now.

If anyone WITHOUT a dev spot for their UDID can try to restore and then post back their results, it would help thousands of people!

Hey I tried it too, at the same time you did. Got the same errors I think as you. I'm not registered either.

Alright I just got 3.0 working on my 3G. I visited eBay and got my UDID added to the dev list, and restored to 3.0. Just finished 2 minutes ago and fully activated.
