some things, and I wanted to ask others:
I am Spanish, if I file under and what the facilities will have
os 3.0 in Spanish?
if you install the iPhone 3.0 GM can not go back to a
previous version?
is really the final version?
thanks friends

This is not the final version, are you on an official carrier in spain? You can not downgrade your BB if you have a 3G

Quick question fellas, sorry if this has been covered already. I'm using a jailbroken iPhone 3G running 2.2.1 in the UK. I don't care about unlocking so I'm not bothered by any baseband changes so could I acquire a copy of the GM 3.0, install it and then re-jailbreak with no problems? I'm not asking for links, I'll find all that myself - I just want to know if it's safe to upgrade this way and still be able to jailbreak it.
Cheers.

Youtube seems to run a lot smoother (especially on 3G), but the whole running of the apps, the way they open + one feature I do like is the ability to search your apps.
When you take a photograph it sends it to the bottom left hand corner, where as now, it still does that, but shows the actual picture
But I think the best feature(s), is the ability to forward text messages and use MMS (if I can get it to send). I did want bluetooth(phone to phone), but....
Confucious, would it be worth downgrading back and the connecting it to itunes, for the official update
I have just discovered that MMS WILL work for O2 Uk users!! When 3.0 has been put onto your phone, it puts the following info in the:-
MMS
APN idata.O2.co.uk
Username "what ever it shows"
Password Password
http address
bunch of number beginning with 193 and ending in 8080
MMS Max Message Size 307200
I have put the following in and O2 has text me, confimring I have now been set up for MMS and it has worked:
It turns out that it is possible to enable MMS on O2 contracts without the IPCC file hack that was required previously. You can instead go to "Settings"->"General"->"Network"->"Cellular Data Network" on your iPhone and fill out the MMS section with the following details (note that you need to restart the phone after filling these settings in): (This info has coem from Flickr)
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
MMSC: mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
Proxy: 193.113.200.195:8080
MMS Max Message Size: [leave blank]
MMS UA Prof URL: [leave blank]
Hope it works for you! (4 text messages are deducted from your bundle for each MMS sent)Last edited by newyork0900; 06-09-2009 at 05:27 AM.

Jailbreak is not available for 3.0GM yet, or so I believe.
If you are on an official carrier and don't want a jailbreak you *could* upgrade - but not officially unless you are a developer.
When the official release is made on 17th you should just be able to download the ipsw (I'm sure it will be seeded within about 5 seconds of release) and then just restore the final version but I don't believe iTunes will recognise it as an upgrade and do it automatically. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. I've just saw that on the O2 website
I agree!! I would consider the 16gb one, but my Mrs would not be happy
I'm unsure if people will run out in their masses and by it, unless they are on contract and spend £30 pm. It looks like the cheapest will be £30 a month and then £180 for the iphone 3G s 16gb

^I really don't want to go on a contract for more than 12 months as I know Apple will release a new iPhone next year to make up for the disappointment this year. The 12 month free web and wifi would save me £120 though. Hmmm yeh, still not worth it lol.

to people asking for jailbreak:
even if the devs do jailbreak the gm they will not release it due to the fact that apple will be able to make the necessary changes to the official firmware and from my perspective apple didnt include a baseband update in this one because the official one will have a baseband update
as for the iphone 3g s (s stands for speed)
forget it! apple needs to stop treating iphone releases like firmware updates..make something that will make upgrading the current device worthwhile, i mean a better camera? a compass? video recording?? i have cydia for that..ill stick with my 3g until an iphone worth it comes out

I know this is my first post but I thought I would give you guys and update on how I went with updating my phone to 3.0GM on the Australian carrier Telstra
After getting a copy of the 3.0GM I shift+restore my phone once the installation finished (by the way I aint a developer or use a developer's account.) The phone activated and restored from my last backup within an hour includes 20 odd apps and 1400 songs.
I went into messages and it asked for my phone number it then took me to settings where I put my phone number in. I then received an MMS from telstra setting up the MMS no tehering though (or not that I could see.)
I have been running for about 2 hours now receiving txt messages, MMS and phone calls with no worries.

So has anybody heard now what "testing mode" really is? If it is locked into this mode and does not let you downgrade does this still mean that you will be able to update to the public release on June 17? For anybody who has upgraded, was there anything different from Beta 5? Any new, or even minor features or fixes?

We all know the Dev Team won't release a jailbreak - but that doesn't top other people doing so.
The 3Gs is aimed at people who took out a 2 Year contract when the original iPhone came out and are now looking to upgrade. If you already have a 3G there isn't a lot of point upgrading, more memory and speed are nice but no 'must haves' for most people IMHO.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. So, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A DEVELOPER TO INSTALL 3.0 GM! I installed this last night and it worked perfectly fine! although I haven't managed to send a mms yet! however tethering is included in the o2 version and can be found in settings/general/network/set up internet tethering! although I'm yet to get access to it
as it sends you to a safari link to set it up! and i have a poor signal in my home!

Why do you need to SHOUT what everyone already knows?
Tethering will cost you an extra £14/month.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I don't believe so, I believe it wont recognise it as an upgrade and you will have to restore manually, possibly in DFU mode but I am fairly certain it won't screw your phone.

ok so the 3g is no go unless downgrading baseband.... but what about on a 2g iphone? this is still unclear to me. there is no jail break for 3.0, meaning if i newly upgraded a non jail broken 2g iphone i would not be able to jailbreak, but what if i am upgrading from a jailbroken and unlocked 2g iphone to 3.0 gm? what then?

I would think it would be wiser, as you stated earlier to downgrade and then upgrade
