What do you not understand when Mods say 'do not post links and do not ask for links'?
He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I don't think Apple will change anything - unless, of course, they are given a good reason to change the BB.

I've just noticed on the O2 website that if you want to tether you iphone, eith the new 3.0 software, you'll need a "Bolt on" for £14../month, that will give you access to 5000 hotspots ....etc.
What a rip off, is it me or are we paying twice ?????

Seems like no one has answered my question outright, what happens if you install the 3.0 firmware on a first gen iPhone, can you unlock it, can you jailbreak the gold master version and does it update the baseband?

You can only keep the unlock you have now by upgrading to 3.0 and not restoring. It does not upgrade the baseband. The GM has not been jailbroken yet, well at least not publicly available.

Everyone charfges extra for tethering. I'm with T-Mobile and their tethering and HSDPA option is an extra £5/month over W'n'W basic, Of course, with my discounts I only pay just over £20 all in...

It will come one day - but don't hold your breath. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I don't understand here about tethering, how would the mobile companies know you have actually tethered your iPhone to your laptop?
I can understand if you have a limit but 3GB a month is still alot. What if your on an unlimited data plan? Nokia and Samsungs allow you to tether without a data plan, I know because I've done it when my internet was down and I really needed to restore my iPhone lol.

Yesterday, I waited and waited, watching the live feeds from WDCC 2009, to see when 3.0 would be out. Wham, it appeared, 17th June 2009, could I wait any longer, NO!
So, as usual the trusted modmyi users came up with a solution 3.0 build #7A341 was discovered. I was up till 03.20am hours waiting for it to download and then installed it. Wham, it was well worth the wait.
I said to myself I would sacrafice, for the time being, being able to jailbreak for the benefits of 3.0 (although it is nice to have everything.
I now have the copy and paste, forward text messages (all those jokes, that I could never forward), the use of MMS and Text is really nice. iTunes having the facility to download a movie or show is very nice, you tube looks better, the landscape look for notes, text, email...etc is really nice.
The only problem I'm having is getting the MMS to send, I'm on a UK (non-yellowsn0w) phone. Has anybody else had this problem with O2 UK
Also when the offical release comes out, will and how will the update be installed i.e will itunes recognise that the current version, is not the full version and automatically update

Rumour has it that you will have to download and install the final manually as iTunes won't recognise it as an upgrade.
How is youtube better? Do you finally get full quality over 3G?
No, you get unlimited data on a standard iPhone Tariff - the £14/month is in addition to that.Last edited by confucious; 06-09-2009 at 03:57 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
