wouldn't that be as effective as thinking that WEP encryption is secure against someone who uses a brute force cracking?
I don't know much about programming, just concepts really and any time I hear the word "encryption" it almost always is followed with a manner in which it is broken.
I do agree however, that it is a "cat and mouse" came with Apple. The only thing is that Apple is one cat in California, while the mice are a world wide community!
remember when 2.1 came out? The thread was nothing but page after page of "oh my GAWD" and "WHAT DO I DOOOOOO".
Followed by "You stupid sh!t, wait for the Devs to tell you it's okay to proceed"
I remember when reading a forums was more about telling WHY things were going bad, and HOW to fix them.
Nowadays reading forums consists of little more then "Oh yeah, I got that problem too", or redundant question after question followed by "Google is Your Friend". Well yea no kidding Google is my friend how do you think I found this place...
now that is useful.
however...

Got my jailbroken iPhone to sync... I have a first generation iPhone, apple computer, jailbroken with quickpawn.
First time i tried syncing i ran into an error message (something about cant read disk). Then i just crossed my fingers, unplugged and replugged iphone into computer and hit the sync button. Sync worked as usual.

I had assumed that Palm had some sort of agreement ith Apple but
would suggest not.Asked whether Apple would mind that Palm built iTunes sync into the Pre, McNamee shot back: "They are practically a monopolist. Consumers want their content." The Pre can only sync non-DRMed content from iTunes. And there are other ways to get that content, but this is the first non-Apple device that syncs directly with iTunes without the use of third-party software. " They can't tell people what to do with music that they own," says McNamee. "We are confirming their dominant market share. They are not stupid."
It would also suggest that Apple aren't stupid enough to let Palm use their software!
But why would you want a pre anyway? I'm looking forward to finding out all the things it can't do after it is released....He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

BAD NEWS
I had to install 8.2 for the new MobileMe Control Panel to work on my Windows Machine :-(
QuickPWN just sits at preparing device now and doesnt do anything else?
GOOD NEWS
Didnt run 8.2 after it installed though, Installed MobileMe control panel fine.
Unistall 8.2 iTunes and Re-Install 8.1
MobileMe Control Panel is working fine and QuickPWN works fine again too!

just downgrade iTunes to 8.1
Why did you upgrade in the first place? He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

two choices
1) Install the older iTunes
2) When jailbreaking and the app is trying to put your ipod in recovery mode, just do put it the ipod in recovery mode manually (leaving it connected to the usb and the program still running) Once it is in recovery mode, the program will see it and continue like normal.
I just tested choice 2 on a Windows XP box with an iPhone 3G 16GB.

Slanging off MN because you have screwed up really isn't a way to win friends or get help.
MN's advice was perfectly correct. He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Attention all
I have mac os 10.5.7. I have installed itunes ver. 8.2.my iphone was on v3.0 beta 5.i have downgraded to 2.2.1 using itunes 8.2 and even pwned it.
It showed an error when pwnage tool puts the iphone in dfu mode.i just reconnect the usb and custom firmware was loaded smoothly.
I find no difficulty in jailbreaking and unlocking iphone using itunes 8.2.

Was that with the Beta 8.2 or final?
The problem is getting the phone into DFU mode, if you manage to bypass the error then everything else should work OK I believe.
On a different matter, some people have reported no 3G reception with the BB from beta 5 on FW2.21 - is yours OK?He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
