Why not make a new iPhone for every new OS?

Samsung Tocco 2.8" WQVGA so although smaller than the iPhone it's not a million miles away.

Yet another pic of what someone thinks the new iPhone might look like. The article was just a re-hash of what has been discussed in this and other forums with the exception of the 17th July date which is actually a bit later than I would have guessed at.

The seeds of this rumor might be linked to the fact that Apple Inc. might like to follow its tradition of releasing a new iPhone version mid-summer every year.

Really? Apple has been in the phone business for less than 2 years (2G in 2007, 3G in 2008). I would hardly call that enough of a foundation to say that there's going to be a new one this year.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a new one, but saying "Apple has been releasing a new phone every summer" is absolutely ridiculous.

What I find more surprising is that according to BGR The Chinese variant will be TD-SCDMA - an unproven technology which, although the licence has been granted to China Mobile (China's largest carrier) I believe it has so far only been tested by 60,000 users - hardly exhaustive! It does show that Apple have more faith in this technology that I do

Microsoft announced today the new Zune HD will have an OLED screen and a 720p HD video output. I hope the new iPhone keeps up

That's what Apple hinted at in their 3.0 announcement, if I recall.

Unfortunately I don't believe that is the case.

TomTom announced that it worked on the iPhone when the 3G was released but I've heard nothing since.

ALK showed a PoC of CoPilot running on the iPhone earlier this year but I have not had a beta from them yet so it certainly won't be ready for when FW3.0 is released. I haven't been pushing for it as I don't have FW 3.0 beta but they will let me know as soon as they have anything for testing.
