I really wonder how apple to resolve the battery life issue for so many push enabled programs. How can you put those battery hungary applications into such battery handicap iphone? may be Viagra will make it up and running..... hopefully

I love the iphone, but i´m not blind to it´s obvious flaws...
The notification is outdated and retarded, and anyone with a functioning brain can see that. Unless their love to apple as reach grounds of pathology.

dude... i totally agree with you.lol
We have to jailbreak and use Taskbar Notifier (status Notifier)to get a visual notification about mail while using any of the other Apps. That should've been on the very 1st firmware in my opinion. :-(
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for better, and waiting for the firmware AND the jailbreak. No one ever gets it exactly right, right???.lol

I think a lot of people are misjudging just how few apps are actually going to be running notifications. Remember, each app needs to handle and have their own servers for the notifications which then get sent through Apple to your phone. Considering the market and user base most apps have, this is going to be a very expensive investment for some people.
Aside from things like IM (like beejive which already support 24/7 connections) and News, I can only see a select few apps really taking advantage of push in any meaningful way.

Has anyone figured out how to get it for us non-paying developers?
And how do you get USB tethering working properly? I can get Bluetooth to work, but not USB, so for the time being, I've been using PdaNet.

05-22-2009, 06:51 AM #33you´re not seeing it as you should then:I can only see a select few apps really taking advantage of push in any meaningful way.
Todo apps or any other app that untill now had not any way to send alerts to the user, when the app is not running.
Games with online multiplayer - livefire is good example.
Adding this kind of apps with social apps, IM, and news apps, you have a BIG spectrum of potential stuff coming out.

im going to sound like a complete idiot probably but here goes...
i've got the GM from Stealthbravo's site, and in searching for the notifications tab, I am Sans Notification Tab!
Is there something that I am doing wrong, or is it simply something that I am not aware of?
Some type of activation, or perhaps something not featured on the GM?
Any insight on the matter would be greatly appreciated, considering that the actual official F/W comes out in a day or so it is kinda a moot point, however i am curious why I'm not seeing it.Herp a derp a derp a doooo!
