iPhone To Be Announced After WWDC, By Steve!?!

All the hopes of Steve Jobs' early return from the "holiday" for the WWDC keynote were ruined when Apple officially announced the keynote to be delivered by Phil Schiller, Apple's Marketing Vice President. With this announcement many believe that the new iPhone will no longer be announced at WWDC ...
According to Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster, Apple won't be unveiling any new iPhone hardware this WWDC. In fact, the whole event will be surrounding software ONLY. This has become a bit obvious after Apple's announcement of developer's preview of Snow Leopard. Apple won't be willing to launch the new iPhone and leave the Snow Leopard with less audience... Therefore, it might be possible that the WWDC keynote will be boring like the last Macworld keynote.
It is believed that Steve will do the honors of revealing the new iPhone by himself and not at the WWDC but at another different event possibly taking place in late June or early July.Although this may raise some concern among investors that Steve Jobs will not return [at all], we continue to expect his return to the company by the end of June."

spanner in the works
Hmmmm I don't know why this is considered as an option, the adverts for WWDC feature a iphone not a computer with anything resembling a SL launch, also there is new workshops on the iphone regarding new hardware API's. Though I am wondering why this time around there have been very little spy photos images of supposed to be launched 3rd generation iphone.
suppose we'll all have to wait

I would be very surprised if they wait until July.
The people that bought the original iPhone when it came out with a 2 year contract will be up for renewal at the end of June. i really don't think Apple will keep them waiting for a new iPhone.

Man, I guess all those iPhone app developers who bought tickets to the WWDC are going to be royally pissed, huh?
This is one analyst's speculation, nothing more.

has no one entertained the idea that jobs could be introducing the iphone at wwdc even though phil will be mc'ing the keynote? it might sound strange for jobs to give up the honors to someone else, but lets face the fact that his pension for theatrics outpaces his desire to be the center of attention. picture the scene, phil introduces snow leopard, hands things off to whats his name to talk about 3.0, then phil gets the mic back to talk small issues like mobileme and a couple small improvements....and then on the screen flashes "......oh, and one more thing." and jobs walks out from backstage with the new iphone in hand. none of this sounds like typical apple at all?

Raise your hand if you going to renewal contract. I am really thinking of not. I have been looking for a phone for Europe with duel sims. What i found made me think that apple is selling good but their are better out there. I found a cell that has a built in tv and it fits in your hand.and flips up. In June all tv singles go digital so poof tv on cell phones.
So i prey that they do something better then just add stuff that should have been there a year ago or even 2 years ago. If i have to wait longer for a New Features then i wait but if nothing but just hardware upgrades. i going to jump ship.

I gave my phone with TV on it, which I bought a couple of years ago, to my daughter. TV on phones comes in various flavours, none of which are compatible with each other or the TV you get at home and all of which are chargeable by the network.
I have had lots of phones on lots of platforms and have no loyalty to Apple, as soon as I find something better I will jump ship and my contract is not tioed to my handset but IMHO there is nothing better out there.
Despite it's flaws, many of which will be addressed with FW3.0 the only thing that will challenge the iPhone 3G is the new iPhone and I can't see anything on that that will make me upgrade, for me the form facter and hardware of the 3G are pretty much ideal. More storage and a better camera would be nice, but not worth me swapping my 3G for and there's nothing else I want.
YMMV.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

I wish I'd gone for a 16Gb instead of being cheap and getting an 8Gb one (£270 from eBay)
