Have you gone thru setup assistant to configure remote viewing?
Make sure that the slingbox is connected to the primary DNS.
Connecting the slingbox to a second router is possible and will let you watch your box within that network but you won't be able to setup remote viewing.*T*Mo**

The answer to that may have a lot to do with the security parameters that your laptop connects with to your wifi at your work. It may have different privileges assigned to it than your iphone does.

This is not the answer because it is like that on any wifi connection I go to .
BTW , I couldnt locate the router/modem that SlingPlayer has in its list of supported routers . This is why I had to chat with their tech and have them set it up remotely . I am afraid to go in and screw things up by running that set up assistant again , because every time I did it would always ask for my brand and model router and I have Verizon dsl and Sling does not list the model (Westell 7500).
Anybody have problems when running setup assistant and they dont list your model router ?Last edited by Fallguy; 05-21-2009 at 01:29 PM.

The girl at at&t today told me she thought I was watching a video and that I was trying to trick people into thinking my iphone was watching LIVE TV because she said that Slingplayer only works on wifi. lol. The look on her face when she saw me change the channel multiples times on 3G was awesome. Stay hot at&t! You sure hire those know-it-alls. haha

There's nothing to do with the MAC authentication.
On your laptop, when you login to your sling account its supposed to show you a directory. Highlight your box and click on edit. Theres a preference tab. In that tab it shows the box alias, the admin password for the box and below that is the slingbox id. Thats the 32-digit code. Copy that number and enter it into slingplayer. Choose, connect, not login. You'll need the admin password and ID.
Don't confuse your admin password with your sling account password.*T*Mo**

Have you tried contacting Sling support?

When I have problems like this, I always try to think logically and back track whatever the problem may be. First, if you can indeed successfully connect to your slingbox from outside your network, then I would try to perhaps install slingplayer on someone else's pc or mac, outside of your network. See if you can connect to your slingbox from there. If you can do that, then you are set up properly to sling remotely. Then, you would be certain that the problem is not with the set up on your slingbox side, but rather some problem with the way that your iPhone is set up. So, if that is what you discover, I would totally uninstall the iPhone SlingPlayer, as well as TrickerThreeG, and any other program that you may have that is playing with the way your iphone connects to the internet. Then, reinstall only SlingPlayer and Tricker, and see how it goes then.

Yes I did . They said they wouldnt help me because my phone was jailbroken . ( the bastards)
Well I have no problem connecting with laptops ( 2 different ) when off site of my slingbox . Like I said earlier my iphone is the only culprit . I uninstalled slingplayer and reinstalled a different download a couple times and still the same results . My next choice is to wait till the 3.0 upgrade and jailbreak again and see if that helps . I dont want to jailbreak agin now becase of all the games and apps I have now . That Categories app from Cydia is the best .Last edited by Fallguy; 05-25-2009 at 01:22 AM. I don't know how much you want to get this working but if you are willing to spend some time (you seem pretty keen and to have spent plenty of time already!) then this is how I would go about it.
1) restore your phone (to a standard, not custom FW) and set up as a new phone
2) install slingplayer only
Does it work?
No? - call Slingplayer support - they have no excuse not to help.
Yes? - restore from your iTunes backup
Does it work?
No? - Start again and install everything manually until you find what is causing the problem, testing slingplayer in between each app you install.
Yes? - Jailbrake - do not install anything.
Does it work?
No? - highly unlikely as it seems to work for everyone else. Post back here if it doesn't.
Yes? - start adding cydia apps one by one testing slingplayer in between to make sure it works.
Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

That's good advice, Confucious. And, although it may seem at first glance to be over-reacting, it is the only way to really get to the bottom of what his problem is.
