All I can say is THANK GOD it came out before the NBA Finals . I got mine up and running in no time . Looks like that $125 investment made in my slingbox solo a couple weeks ago is going to payoff .

Just ordered a Slingbox Solo from CompUSA for $159. I saw a few a little cheaper on eBay, but I wanted this shipped UPS Next Day Air, so went with the CompUSA one. Will be slingin my porn through the Internets this time tomorrow! w0ot!

Quality is pretty good, fast pace action gets choppy. Its definitely very easy to watch.

LOL! Actually I am running over 3G on my test phone on 2.2.1. The reason it is not working on 3.0 is that it requires mobilesubstrate to trick the apps into thinking they are on wifi. Expect support for mobilesubstrate in beta 6

It works on 3.0 but wifi only. The ms problem is being handled right now.

Ha no worries. Ive had a 14 hour stint at work, and just spent the last 2 hours downgrading to 2.2.1 to use 3G.

IMHO if you are at 3.0 DONT BOTHER DOWNGRADING. I could only downgrade properly using WINDOWS and the 3G SlingPlayer might aswell be renamed "Optimizing" thanks to O2's lame *** 3G coverage.

@A.T - Walk into any local Currys/PC World and you will find a slingbox!

AND, if the UK ISP's actually start upgrading, well, if BT start upgrading the exchanges to fibre optics then maybe we can all start getting upload speeds that would satisfy a slingbox / home server. Mine is 250 kbps upload TOPS which is fine for the iPhones little screen (when it's not "Optimizing") but sucks for my laptop + accessing my home server remotely.

I will also be looking forward to a forced update from Sling Media stopping the SlingPlayer app from being used on jailbroken iPhones much like Skype.....

O2's network is awful IMHO. On T-Mob I get 1-2Mb download and my upload at home is only about 700k
It is noticable how in the US the upload speeds are a lot faster - but then, it's never been a problem for me in the past.

Was running 3.0 B4 not jailbroken and downloaded Sling.. It worked of course over 3g. Decided to update to B5 and jailbreak with Cydia. Did that not problem.. applied the IPCC to get back my MMS and then installed the 3gfixer or whatever it was called. Sadly, my SLingplayer wont run nor will the appstore.. they just crash back to the srpingboard. I had a cpl apps that crashed in B4 and still do in B5. Anyone else have Sling crashing on B5?? ANY help appreciated.... totally frustrated now

After updating the voipover3G .plist intially everything was as normal but did not work over 3G.

That was last night - later today no apps would open. Just crash to springboard.

I downgraded to 2.2.1 to use Voipover3G so that sling could be used over 3G but it was pointless. Playback over 3G is dreadful and 'Optimizing' appears constantly and buffers the thing. Irritating. Stay at 3.0 b5 and wait for some mobile substrate support or forget the app for now.

I have 2.2 2g and it says i cant use it! Is there a way around that?

Just restore to 2.21 in iTunes and ignore the errors i believe.

I spent 2 hours going from windows to mac trying to find a working solution.

Exactly as it says:

on a Windows Computer

1) open itunes
2) get iphone in DFU mode
3) select shift + restore iphone (using the original 2.2.1 firmware, not the custom one)
4) let iphone do the restore process until you get ERROR 1013
5) close itunes
6) open quickpwn. you will get a message saying to hold power and home for 15 seconds. do it exactly like that hold the power and home for 15 secs.
7) turn on iphone by continuing to hold the power button for 2 secs
8) open itunes and BINGO iphone is recognize and activated
9) THEN jailbreak using QuickPwn (or get no signal)

And no, i have heard "You can downgrade from 3.0 to 2.2.1 whenever you like" all the time since ive been at 3.0. How wrong that is.

Also, that infois copy+pasted. The errors can be anything, not only 1013. Whatever the error is - just ignore it and continue.

And its using QuickPwn 2.2.5-2

Also, for anyone currently on 2.2 using yellowsn0w who wants to get to 2.2.1 while keeping the 02.28 baseband (and yellowsn0w still working

I was excited for 5mins this morning when I saw the release and read about tricker 3G. Only to find yet again as I have now several times since finally installing beta 5 compat Cydia a couple days ago, it's another thing that won't work with 3.0. At least it didn't screw up my 3.0 like Homer SMS sound effect did..

I hope the solution doesn't take too long, as I've waiting for slingplayer mob for what seems like an eternity.
