The above step references transferring the file to your desktop and editing it from there..I didnt have to do this step..I just double clicked the plist from within SSH...added the slingplayer string..saved the changes and that was it

Hey guys, just bought the app and added the string for voipover3g. Now I just need to buy a slingbox! Which slingbox do you guys recommend? I have a directv HD-DVR. Has anybody tried streaming HD content on the iphone and how does it look over 3g using voipover3g?

No one has answered the following 2 questions:

1. Does SlingBox work on OS 3 b5?
2. Does VOIPover3G work on OS 3 b5?
3. Is the SlingPlayer program written in such a way that it would never be "cr@ckable"?

I actually have the WM license...I saw the post earlier about someone wanting to have that moved over... I'd really be interested in hearing if he was successful with that. But no, I will pay for it...

This is Bull, I have an Airport Extreme wireless router that I use on 'n' draft, not 'G' which the iPhone 3G is. When I switch it over to G network my brothers macbook and guests usually work fine but my MacBook Pro can barely pick up the signal! ... Why is that?

It shows as 2, sometimes 1 bar on the wireless indicator. Is it possible that the airport card is damaged to somehow not work on G, or what?!

cant get the app to work, it open then closes right fast anyone knows if any jailbroken apps block the use of slingplayer??

Righty here is my review from Cheltenham, England.

Have a Slingbox classic hooked up to sky+
Iphone 3G
Sky Broadband ( at a useless 0.5mbs!!!!)

Downloaded Slingplayer from appstore this morning £17.99.

Used Voip3g as stated before in able it to run over 3G

Quality is near perfect in house running over the same WiFi network.

On the bus to work, the 3G works but, mainly because of my crap internet at home, annoyingly buffers every 20 seconds for about 5seconds.

Just tried it in McDonalds (BT cloud wifi) at lunchtime and it would not connect at all. have not tried any other wifi yet.

All in all, 3G should work fine for you if you have a decent internet speed (and lets face there are people in outer mongolia with quicker internet than me)

It's a pity there's not a trial. i also have a Clasic but as it's not supported I am reluctant to fork out 18 squid on something that might not work.

My experience of O2's 3G network would suggest atht you are getting good speeds for O2 - mine varied between nothing and 0.5Mb - that's why I wnt back to T-Mob where I get 1-2Mb

just another user here confirming that adding "com.slingmedia.SlingPlayer" to VoIPover3G.plist makes it work over 3G. worth the $30 imho

Best Buy does carry the SlingBox. Can you get it there? Well, I guess you can if they have one in stock!

Actually, many places carry the SlingBox. I have four boxes. Bought three of the four on eBay. The best place to get one - I guess that would be the least expensive place! Balancing price with how long you are willing to wait for a "sweet deal" is only something you can determine.

Anyone on TMobile try this on the Edge network? I have that VOIP3G program and I can access the App Store over Edge, but I need to update to 2.2.1 to install slingplayer to test it...I hate updating.

Two things:
1) you can use FWChanger to fool it into thinking it's running 2.21
2) Edge really isn't fast enough for, well, anything really.

Does this work on OS3 beta 5?

I can confirm that the voipover3G trick DOES NOT work on 3.0 beta.

Also, to the guy with the airport base station, if thats the older airport (not dual band one) - if someone with a B/G connection connects to the airport it will slow all of the N connected people down aswell - would explain your poor signal.

You need the new dual band airport so you can broadcast for your b/g + your N seperately and everyones happy
