iPhone Temperature Warning Screen Discovered!
We've seen various weird iPhone screenshots before, including that of the Prototype OS, but this one is nice and new... and hot.

A guy named Jeff posted a screenshot of the iPhone indicating the iPhone got overheated. There's no doubt if it's fake or real as the same can be found even in the Apple Knowledge base, but most of us have never actually seen it.
If you've seen this screen before, let us know about your experience!Don’t sit next to a pool in Scottsdale Arizona when it’s 104 degrees or your iphone will melt away! So how to fix it fast? I put the iPhone between 2 cold beers and it worked!

I've seen it. I left my phone in the car and when I finally realized it was there and got it out it was so hot I could barely touch it. It took about 20 mins to cool down enough for the warning screen to go away and be usable again. The whole time I was in panic mode thinking I cooked it was gonna have to get a new one.
Luckily it seems to still work fine.

For a while I was using my phone for internet connection and the only way I could get 3G was by taping it to my window. My window faces the East, so during our hot days the sun would beat down on the phone. That coupled with the natural temperature from the iphone working on 3G it would get this screen often.

That's not fake.....
I had that happen to me the first day I brought my 3g home. I was jailbreaking and restoring my apps, then I saw that screen. All I had to do is turn off my phone for about 10 min and it was fine after that......I haven't seen that temp warning since!

I've seen this screen before. I accidentally left my phone on my bed where I have it charging. This particular time I also left it in my heating blanket. When I picked it up it was really, i mean really hot! I took the case of and put it under a fan.

It's definetly real here are the strings inside the springboard.strings file:
<key>THERMAL_ALERT_STRING</key>
<string>iPhone needs to cool down
before you can use it.</string>
There is also a file you can edit if you want to disable the alert:
private\var\preferences\SystemConfiguration\OSTher malStatus.plist
I only have this file on my 3G not 2GLast edited by mfleigle; 05-09-2009 at 11:19 AM.
