I think AT&T might be waiting for the next Iphone to come out and offer that app only on that model . This would open the floodgates on previous 3G owners to upgrade and others to buy in to AT&T's monopoly . Would be nice if the SlingBox team let their app slip out (hint hint) by a disgruntled employee who just so happens to own a 3G AT&T /Apple Iphone .

Way to freak out everyone with that misleading picture. This is not new, this is the same terminology they have had in there for a long time. It only is talking about (in example) if you stream things from the tv USING the mobile device. You are downloading the signal not using the device to upload anything.

OOH....bring slingplayer to Cydia what the heck....
04-30-2009, 12:37 PM #28
This is some huge MIS-information. AT&T ALLOWS Slingplayer. I watch it EVERY DAY on my AT&T Blackberry Bold!
The issue between Sling and Apple are between Sling and Apple.
There are ALREADY a fleet of AT&T phones with Slingplayer mobile...again, the issue here is Apple, not AT&T.
P.S. I have an iPhone also and I can't WAIT for it to come out for the iPhone

Anyway, if Sling's app really was going against AT&T's ToS, most likely we'd know it was rejected already. THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE, but if I submitted a porn app to Apple, you wouldn't have to wonder if it would be approved or not because it goes against their ToS. How long do you think it would take to officially get rejected? If Sling's app went against AT&T's, it would have been rejected already.
Either Apple is still inspecting it, hasn't really got to it yet, or AT&T wants Apple to wait to release it until their better and faster 3G network is running. That's what I'm betting, though it still could be something else.Does this rag smell like chloroform to you?
If I helped you, be sure to press the Thanks! button over there ->
If I didn't, press it anyway.

"extreme network capacity issues and interference with the network"
BullS***. Orb is on the appstore and does the same thing except you need a computer as a server.

Why doesn't Sling Media just say F* them and just make it available on Cydia.

Does anyone read anyone's elses posts or just blurt....Look At&t has about 10 phones atleast that are capable of running the slingplayer app..and ya ya i know all 10 phones or more don't even add up to the amount of data traffic/web traffic that the iPhone does but put all together i'm sure all there models off blackberry's do...so i think it's safe to say that apple and or slingbox have many valid points why the app should be allowed to run...and if there really that dumb ***** dumb...then we can take it to them hard...(Petitions/calls/emails ) and flood them why bad press-tweets-blog posts and everyother way us techies use to persuade them...i dont think a legit company like slingplayer would want to go the cydia route ...although as a last result i hope they wouldn't count it out either...ANYWAY...I WANT THIS APP BAD...SO LET"S GET ON IT ALREADY>>>>>>PLEASE APPLE......i'm sure it's floating around apple internally and there having fun using it as we all pull our hair out waiting..cause to me that is my ultimate killer app to add to my iphone and there is no app i'm waiting for or want more...GET MOVING APPLE!!!
05-01-2009, 06:44 AM #37sling on att
i dont get it. ive had windows mobile with slingplayer for ever since it came out. im with ATT. how can you deny iphone slingplayer if all the other phones on ATT can use slingplayer. Dont believe that is logical . So ATT lets all the other phones with slingplayer work except Apple?? dont think so..

Why can't they make it one of those wifi only Apps?

Everyone is getting their panties all in a bunch, and, contrary to the inflammatory wording of the first message in this thread, AT&T has said NOTHING at all, and there has been NO change at all in their TOS. While I appreciate Cash, and his work on this web site, I think he has done a great disservice to this community by posting an unfounded and misinformed quote from another web site, which was ALREADY refuted on that very web site.
I am in the same boat as everyone else here waiting for this app. But a wait "this long" is not at all unusual for an app with these characteristics and abilities. I, too, used to use WMobile, and had sling running successfully on all my previous pda phones. So, I understand the sense of frustration. But, getting all fired up over a false statement on this web site does nothing but continue the flood of misinformation.

FWIW, you are about the 15th person to say this without realizing the difference. So I must ask you
#1: Why do we need to hear it so many times? You are drowning out the TWO of us who are telling you this.
#2: Why didn't you read this explanation from the other guy before adding to the mess with something that's already been said?
