Appleinsider put up an article:
AppleInsider | SlingPlayer for iPhone may be facing opposition from AT&T
BGR: Tonyajs: April 16, 2009 10:27 AM
"I have just spoken to a slingmedia rep. and he has confirmed that AT&T has asked Apple to deny the application!"
Tonyajs: BGR Reporting Slingbox App Rejected at AT&T's Request.: Sling Community
(not sure who this guy is, he either is adding rumor, or sling really is waiting to announce anything)

i don't understand why this would be rejected. There are plenty of other video streaming application such as Orb and apps like TV.com that have a lot of streaming video running across them. I use orb all the time to stream movies from my computer it works over wifi, 3g, and edge. I don't see a problem with this. Why would slingplayer be rejected if apps like Orb got through?

Yea this is BS because they could always request that it only worked on wifi

Also I agree this is most likely a stupid rumor meant to get all of us heated right before it is approved and available.

If an app doesn't get accepted within 1-2 weeks and you haven't heard from Apple they've either
a) rejected it but shouldn't you get a reply if it's been rejected?
b) still thinking about it and if they change the App Store rules, they'll let in.
I'm going with b. Tbh I've no idea what slingplayer is.

Update from Sling!
SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone Still Awaiting Approval, Despite Rumors From "Sling in the News", A Blog by SlingCommunity News: Sling Community
"Ah, the Internet... where the lines between actual news and unsubstantiated wild rumors get blurred. Like yesterday, when BoyGenius reported (based off a tip from an "anonymous tipster") that AT&T pushed Apple into rejecting Sling's iPhone SlingPlayer from the App Store, spelling doom for any iPhoner's desire to Sling TV to their iPhone.
We had an opportunity to speak with Jay Tannenbaum at Sling Media, who was able to shed some light on the current situation. It turns out anyone stating that SlingPlayer has been denied, or confirmed for that matter, is only spreading rumors.
"Here are the facts," he says. "We submitted the iPhone SlingPlayer to Apple a few weeks ago, and we're in contact with them (Apple). There's nothing to report yet. It's a great app, and there's nothing more we would like to do than have it be available in the App Store."
Part of the problem is Apple's approval process, which does seem to take an eternity when there’s so much pent-up anticipation.
"A two to three week wait is common," says Jay. "Some apps may take less time, but it's important to remember that SlingPlayer is far more complex than your typical iPhone app. It makes sense it would take a little extra time to go through this process."
All said, the constant rumors really highlight the anticipation and excitement for the iPhone SlingPlayer. One thing's for sure, with the approval process now nearing the three week mark, it shouldn't be long until something definitive is announced."
I'm a little more relaxed now

i Love my iphone but i just about had enough of the bureaucracy that surrounds the service, Apple and AT&T.
It seems that Blackberry users enjoy a lot more freedom that we all should enjoy based on this country's ideals.
We all paid a lot of money and endured a lot of "pain" due to restrictions by AT&T. I will wait and see how everyone who had the opportunity to enjoy the 3.0 will respond and i think it will be time to say BYE to AT&T.
It makes me upset that i am not allowed to enjoy and use all the features and capabilities of this revolutionary product. Shame on you Steve for selling out and allowing a carrier to control you.

I can't image that is the case. I have slingplayer on my blacberry bold thru AT&T. Why would they allow it on the blackberry and not the iphone?

It's not all about ATT anyway as Slingbox is used all over the world and can/will be used on many networks besides ATT.

Since this appears on the main page of MMI, it might just be a good idea if the original poster were to edit his post, informing the readers that this "informed source" came from an ip within a prison, and has been totally discredited.

just post the app on cydia the best thing to do.......ill be waiitn t c it on cydia even if i have to pay more
04-19-2009, 11:05 PM #39
there is no way this ends up on cydia. they had a beta that worked on jailbroken phones but never released it.
04-20-2009, 07:00 AM #40
now if it is truly been rejected all together than i think they would be foolish to not release it on cydia.
sorry to disagree with ya on that on stealth"i believe louisiana is the pelican state"
