Amalone87:
I bet you didn't use iTunes to put the ringtones there in the first place did you? The only ringtones that were affected (as far as I know) were those that used the .m4r/.m4a/stik=14 hack to get iTunes to sync them like bought ringtones.
People who hadn't hacked/jailbroke?breaked?
their iPhones could use that hack to get custom ringtones... so for them its a big deal.

I seriously do not know what the big fuss is
not being able to see the ringtones in the itunes tab?
Have u people not learned a lesson with the all the sshfs?
just put ur damn ringtones into the ~/Library/Ringtones folder
u don't even have to have to convert them to m4a/m4r ... why bother?
just put good old mp3 or midi in there
it'll show up in the ringtones on ur iphone perfectly fine .... jeezBest Regards

Just create a folder in Root>Library called Ringtones- Drag and drop files there, they won't be deleted

whats funny is all this could be avoided if you put the ringtones where your stock ringtone directory is.....

7.4.3 kills ringtones
Update kills ringtones created by MakeiPhoneRingtone by Rouge Amoeba
Takes any ringtone and sends them to library and defeats this method of creating them.

I have AppTapp installed and I used iToner to get ringtones on my phone. No tones were deleted. Just make sure you do not select to option to search for purchased music that is eligible for ringtones. Also as many others hve said uncheck the sync ringtones.

I updated to 7.4.2 on my Mac.
The ringtones listed are gone.
As an experiment, I deselected Sync Ringtones and resynced my phone and it took them off the phone
So back to iToner we goJe t'aime encore, Roguette

Synced last nite...all mods are intact. My ringtones were all copied via WinScp so I didn't lose any.

I have 1.0.2 iphone restored using itunes 7.4.
I performed jailbreak and installed apps/mods using apptapp.
I have ATT so no unlocking and no fake activation on my iphone.
Can I just update itunes to 7.4.2 and sync or I have to restore my iphone first?
PS I don't have custom ringtones.

no, if you SFTP them then they will stay in the phone

the ringtones that you buy will SEEM to dissappear after the update, but if you go into your music folder, and double click the duplicate of the songs, they'll go back. In other words, they were moved to our music folder.

Just install SendSong via Installer on your phone. This lets you choose any song on your phone and use it as a ringtone. No need for all this pissing about
