Nope... the guy who said he found this fix didn't test it. This is NOT a fix currently. So if you're unmodded and just adding ringtones for now I would NOT upgrade to the new iTunes.

i installed 7.4.2 then I did a full restore of my phone and reinstalled apptapp. After that I used openSSH to put my ringtones in the Ringtone directory and all is well.

Amalone87:

I bet you didn't use iTunes to put the ringtones there in the first place did you? The only ringtones that were affected (as far as I know) were those that used the .m4r/.m4a/stik=14 hack to get iTunes to sync them like bought ringtones.

People who hadn't hacked/jailbroke?breaked? their iPhones could use that hack to get custom ringtones... so for them its a big deal.

I seriously do not know what the big fuss is
not being able to see the ringtones in the itunes tab?
Have u people not learned a lesson with the all the sshfs?
just put ur damn ringtones into the ~/Library/Ringtones folder
u don't even have to have to convert them to m4a/m4r ... why bother?
just put good old mp3 or midi in there
it'll show up in the ringtones on ur iphone perfectly fine .... jeez

The fuss is for the people who do not want to jailbreak their phone, and have no need to do anything else other than ringtones. Hence, me not updating until final solutions come up.

An update to iTunes shouldn't give any of ur mods trouble, besides the ringtone thing ... which isn't a mod.
However a firmware update for the phone conceivably can, and will.

Just create a folder in Root>Library called Ringtones- Drag and drop files there, they won't be deleted

whats funny is all this could be avoided if you put the ringtones where your stock ringtone directory is.....

7.4.3 kills ringtones

Update kills ringtones created by MakeiPhoneRingtone by Rouge Amoeba

Takes any ringtone and sends them to library and defeats this method of creating them.
