I Think it should stay with AT&T only because thats what makes it a hot item, once it able to go on any network its going to loose its value. my 2%

I wish Cingular was still by itself

it has helped at&t obtain many new contracts.
04-26-2009, 07:54 PM #66F*** you apple
If the iphoe is not available on other carriers in the next 5 years I have no faith left in humanity

No AT&T is fine. No one carrier has superior coverage, it's about equal depending on your area.
Why would I want everyone to have an iPhone..? AT&T is fine.

^ LOL why would you NOT want everyone to have an iPhone?

AT&T is fine, but I sure would like either 1: a 3G tower in my area, or 2: a pro rated data plan since I'm stuck with the slow as death Edge network.

I don't have any issues with at&t's service. I guess it just depends on your location. I live in the Memphis/North MS area and have been with AT&T for over 10 years and am happy with their service. I have never had a dropped call on my iPhone that I can remember. I drive over 25 miles to work every day and keep 5 bars of 3G service the whole way home. And I do watch it as my phone is mounted on my dash. So even if it was offered on another carrier I would stick with AT&T. I don't really want to see it offered on another carrier either. My only issue with AT&T is their pricing. It's higher than anyone else's service. But in my area it's also better than anyone else's.

I really would hate to see the iphone ported to verizon or other carriers.
Apple actually went to verizon first and offered the iphone as an exclusive phone and verizon turned it down. AT&T has spent millions of dollars carrying the iphone, and i think it deserves to be the sole carrier.
all this crap with the FCC and AT&T having a Monopoly is total BULL ****.
that being said AT&T really needs to step up its game, i mean its been how long since they said wed have MMS.
get ur game face on AT&T oh and WTF when are you gonna up your 3G Speed to HSPA+?????

AT&T is pretty atrocious. Second rate 3G coverage but you're paying Voice, Messaging and Data costs at a first rate price. And the dropped calls aren't related to the network.. yeah OK. AT&T has been proven over and over again to have such mediocre network reliability but it's totally the iPhone. If not Verizon, Sprint.
Nothing was ever set in stone with Verizon
Everyone sticking up for AT&T just don't want to enjoy options or a better network.

When I had AT&T/Cingular, I had so many dropped calls (using a Razer at the time). I can remember times when my call would drop 10 or eleven times in ONE conversation. No lie. THis was on AT&T's 800 network, which was utter crap here in LA. When I first signed up with them, they were using the old PacBell 1900 network. They sold that to T-Mobile and service went into the toilet immediately as they dumped thousands of people on this underpowered network. I was able to get out of my contract and went to T-Mobile, but talking to friends who had Cingular remained quite the challenge. I have four coworkers who have iPhones on AT&T and they all complain about dropped calls. Not really a problem for me, so I think we can stop blaming the phone.

I have been with all the main providers in the US and they all drop calls. AT&T does it less than others I think

I love my iPhone as much as anybody dude. But I'm not afraid to admit it's shortcomings . If it were that great we wouldn't have to hack it to get to do what we want it to do. I dunno. Everyones entitled to a douchey comment sometimes right?
