The DigiTimes has published a list (image above) of what it says are the suppliers of components for the next generation iPhone due in June. Included on that list is a 3.2 megapixel camera which is a nice improvement over the current model's 2 megapixel camera.

TSMC have landed foundry orders for GSM EDGE power amplifiers, Bluetooth ICs and 3.2-megapixel OmniVision CMOS image sensor (CIS) used in the upcoming iPhone model, indicated the sources. Xintec will handle the packaging and testing service for the CIS whereas VisEra will manufacture on-chip color filters for the CIS.

Also, according to the report the initial batch of the new iPhone will be a whopping 5 million units. Apple obviously expects the third-gen iPhone to be a great success.

The so-called "iPhone 3.0" reportedly will be launched by mid-2009, the sources claimed. Assembly suppliers will kick off shipments for the upcoming model starting from May, with the first batch estimated to be around five million units, the sources said.

Will that WCMDA amplifier be inside all of the models and be nonfunctional for the non Chinese version or will it only be in the Chinese version?

Great news on the improved camera. I just hope there will be a slightly faster processor and more ram than 128mb, 256mb is needed. At the least more ram, that would be the biggest help.

I would assume just the Chinese units, since there are apparently going to be three separate models...

Unfortunately for Kotin I'm pretty sure they haven't perfected cryogenics yet so if we were to freeze you, you would miss it cause you'd be dead.

Maybe, but the other way to read it is the the Camera is just the optics/lens/focus part, and CIS is the sensor/chip behind that.
