Three iPhones to be Announced in June?

It isn't as crazy as it sounds. According to a report by the Commercial Times apple will be launching three iPhones in June. First a 2.75g (edge like the original iPhone), an updated 3g, and a Chinese targeted CDMA version. The updated 3g phone is no surprise as we have already been expecting it for months.
The CDMA version is a direction Apple will have to go eventually if they want to put the iPhone on every network worldwide. If released possibly some hacking could put that CDMA phone on carriers like Verizon (who refused the iPhone originally).
The new edge version if it really is real would most likely be very similar to the original iPhone. In fact why not just pick up a 1st generation iPhone off of ebay? I can't really see it as Apple's style to go backwards in product development but it could be a decent move if marketed as one of those phones that you get for free when signing a contact with a carrier -- fully subsidized.
Might as well throw in here that the Commercial Times report specifically denies the possibility of an iPhone nano. No mini iPhone for you!

edit: if it isn't obvious that is just an artist's concept of the next iPhone. The image is NOT a real 3rd generation iPhone

If there IS a new EDGE iPhone I will be buying it. There's not 3G reception around me for 130 miles. I don't want a more expensive plan for something I can't use.

i seriously doubt this. I mean wasn't there only two new phones that were referred to in the firmware? I'm still thinking that there will be a new version of the iphone, and a "Iphone 3g Pro." After all, why would you go back to an egde phone? The phone mainly needs a data plan for everything it does, and it's a really advanced for for it's time. So to sacrifice speed in a phone high quality phone just doesn't sound ideal. After, Apple only produces "High quality products."
So in short, this rumor is sh** and I'll be waiting for the announcement of the "Iphone 3g Pro" in june
The screenshot is only a mock-up of what the next iphone COULD look likeLast edited by gatorboy; 04-13-2009 at 05:14 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Hopefully it's more than 16GB. I mean, Apple is all high quality now.

There is a market for EDGE phones. I was just visiting my Father in law in central Pennsylvania this weekend and was stuck using EDGE on my 3G iphone. No 3G reception. No wifi at his house either-he still has DIAL-UP internet. In fact the EDGE was pretty weak and it kept defaulting back to I guess what would be GPRS ( the little circle icon). Driving thorough the town I saw a young guy with an iPhone 3G and wondered why would you get one and spend the cost of the more expensive data plan if you lived there. Then I realized maybe he was visiting too.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.
