From Boy Genius Report, video recording will only be available in the next generation iPhone and not in the iPhone 2G or iPhone 3G.
Video recording is for the next gen iPhone not the current iPhones. Confirmed.

Hey guys, like i said before the camcorder does not work. Editing the plist just allows you to see the toggle switch. I dont know if it will work on the 3g in the final build.
BTW it is not confirmed that it will only work on a new iphone. A new iphone isnt even "confirmed".Last edited by StealthBravo; 04-09-2009 at 03:36 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Granted there isn't a confirmed new iPhone yet hope the camcorder works with all model phones. It's getting harder to justify buying a new phone everyone when my current phone works just fine.

Camcorder Interface
Hello Anyone, I was just wondering how to enable the camcorder interface, because in my Info.plist file I have 2 options: still-camera -> set to true then another still-camera -> set to false, I already tried enabling the other still-camera option but it does nothing. I have no other options in the plist... I would be very thankful if someone could give me instructions.... Thank you!

Instructions
Alright, I found out how to view the interface...
1. SSH into your iphone
2. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/
3. Download the file M68AP.plist
4. Open the file using a text editor or a plist editor
5. Add a Boolean value under the capabilities dictionary
6. Boolean Key = video-camera / Boolean Value = true
7. Save and upload the file to the same directory that it was originally in
8. Go onto the iPhone and respring
9. Done! You now have access to the camcorder interface, but beware, the interface is slow and once you have done these instructions you will not be able to take regular photos.

To enable some usage of the interface open the camera click the square box in the bottom left corner and then wait for the camera roll to load and then press done

1st Gen & 3G iPhones can record with the right program so IDK y this wouldnt be available via 3.0 Update unless Apple just wants to stick us for our paper. Dam....

After 3.0, if all the rumors are true (BTW, I'm upgrading to the next iPhone when it comes out), my only reason for jailbreaking now will be (in order):
iRealSMS (for quick reply and quick send)
PdaNet (if AT&T allows tethering, but charges for it, no thanks! I'll stick with PdaNet)
SBSettings (->*UAFaker*<-, Processes, and just all the quick toggles)
gpSPhone (I love GBA on my iPhone!)
Qik (not really needed, but still cool!)
I would miss MxTube (for streaming better quality videos over 3G/EDGE) and Winterboard (obviously for themes), but those are things I could live without.Last edited by Channan; 04-12-2009 at 02:22 PM.
