Yes, Zibri made the GUI. I don't think you understand a lot of this stuff...Geohot made the actual unlock...And the dev team MADE THE ACTUAL JAILBREAK. THEY FOUND THE EXPLOIT. Then Zibri stole it and made a GUI.

My old July 1st iPhone is already jailbroken, unlocked, modded, etc. Even so, should I restore to 1.1.4 and use Pwnage? Is it the smartest move for both now and the future?

If your phone is on 1.1.4, then no. This applies to everyone. If you have a jailbroken/unlocked phone and it's working, there is no need for you to use this.
