Thread: Want 3.0? Don't Have an iPhone Developer Program Account? Devs are Selling Spots.
is a discussion within theiPhone News
forums, a part of theGeneral iPhone
section;I will agree with several of the members who have posted it is very glitchy. Programs that would normally run seamless, give you a ton of trouble and shut down.

If you have a lot of patience (and i do) it wont bother you as much, but if you know you're frustrated easily stay with 2.2.1 and wait it out. Like some of the other guys say... 10 minutes of fun. I'm still running mine just because i haven't had time to reinstall and jailbreak.

I got to play with 3.0 today and will echo what others have said for the most part. Wait. I was given the option of getting a slot and could have had my phone updated, but at this point its not worth it to get a bunch of features that work pretty stable now with jailbroken apps, to work buggy with offical beta versions.
Upon a fresh reboot things seem fine, but maybe its a memory issue or something, but after launching a few things, and after some things crash, the whole phone slows down. I literally counted to 20 for the SMS app to open, then the thing had 1 SMS, with 3 lines of conversation in that one SMS.
Best advice I can give? If you want to see it, find someone who has it and play, or honestly wait, and leave this release to the dev's that its meant for. While it works, its far from a production release IMHO.

I just called myself, left a short message and then I got the prompt for the voicemail password; it worked fine after that.
I used Windows XP, and I can only speak from my personal experience, but my downgrade to 2.2.1 went very smoothly.
I got this method from Mocque on MacRumors, and it worked perfectly for me, at least:
on a Windows Computer
1) open itunes
2) get iphone in DFU mode
3) select restore iphone (using the original 2.2.1 firmware, not the custom one)
4) let iphone do the restart process until you get ERROR 1013
5) close itunes
6) open quickpwn. you will get a message saying to hold power and home for 15 seconds. do it exactly like that hold the power and home for 15 secs.
7) turn on iphone by holding power button for 2 secs
8) open itunes and BINGO iphone is recognize and activatedLast edited by Napoleon_PhoneApart; 03-24-2009 at 09:56 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

any devs interested in adding my udid to their developer acct, pls pm me. I'm not looking to "buy" 3.0, but I'd like to take an active role in app development by testing new apps for developers. I'd like to start contributing to the community that way. I don't know much about coding, but I can help by testing from an end-user standpoint. Pm me if interested. Thx.

I wonder what Apple is going to do....I really don't think APPLE is going to like people making busines with their work behind their back! Plus this is wrong developers! If the Appple Gods allowed all developers to beta test the firmware you shouldn't be making business out of it.
What this is going to cause is Apple to allow betas only to the first devs like it was doing before.
