^^ Maybe but doubt it. Apple needs to do some hardware revisions to help in the prevention of pirated apps (Not saying they will be successful
). Many people would be disappointed if they just rolled out an updated 3G.

That would be their own fault. Apple themselves have given no indication whatsoever that they're releasing, let alone working on a new iPhone yet. It's amazing because at this point, almost all if not 100% of all "new iPhone" news are baseless rumors. Hell, half of the rumors for the "new iPhone" were rumors that the 3G had but didn't come through.
People have done a great job at setting incredibly high expectations over nothing. Tomorrow is going to roll by and we'll get a 2 hour conference out of which 60% will be aimed towards developers. I hope you all read that last sentence. TOMORROW'S PRESENTATION WILL BE MAINLY FOR DEVELOPERS, NOT CONSUMERS! If we're lucky, the last of the presentation will touch the iPhone itself, where they want to go with it, and release a 32GB variation for a 1-year anniversary.
Also, something that people seem to not be talking about. IF (big if) a new iPhone is in fact released, EXPECT TO NOT BE ELEGIBLE TO GET IT! If you have a 3G, 99% change you got it at the subsidized cost. Meaning, you won't be eligible for a full upgrade until NEXT year. So if you want to jump from the 3G to the "new one", expect to pay an extra $150-200. This wasn't an issue with the 2G to 3G jump because we never paid a subsidized cost on it.

Well, I seriously doubt that. There hasn't been confirmation from Apple but the iPhone2,1 label found in the 3.0 firmware is a pretty huge clue that can't be overlooked and it wouldn't be a 3G upgrade but a entire new device. I know that the speculations do get out of hand every year but I am fairly certain there will be a new iphone. I don't know about all this ichat video and glowing logo rumors.

You are correct about people not getting the subsidized price. There is no way they would allow people to have an upgrade and lose out on a year of contract time. All I know is that 2 out of the 3 lines on my account are saying they are eligible for an upgrade without commitment

So, its still evidence of a new device.
Well I guess we will see tomorrow. If there is not a new iphone announced I will come back here and gladly take the "I told you so" but I seriously doubt you will see a stupid 32GB 3G

HAHA. I know. I will have to get the 32GB phone because I would have launched my current one at the wall after that announcement

My hopes are not set on video conferencing
I think I would only use it once or twice.

Doesn't it bug you when people are so certain of themselves they won't admit when they are wrong? Or worse still, won't say anything in case they are!
Nothing is certain, I do like the way you have rated things by %age on your site BTW.
If you could be right 100% of the time you would be very weird - if people want to say 'I told you so', then that's there problem.
If you are 100% wrong, people are unlikely to listen in the future. I think you are going to be a lot more right than wrong.
But then, I could be wrong

^ Thanks! To me half the fun is the speculation on what could be.

There is speculation and 'educated' speculation.
People listen to you because you ar 'in the know'
No one listens to me because I talk cr*p so it doesn't matter if I am wrong

I'm an idiot because I like and can type faster on a virtual keyboard? I don't even need to flame you. You made yourself look stupid.
thetoothfairy and confucious seem to agree with me.
