Question Does anybody think Apple won't act on this
Hi modders. Been here since day 1 and jailbreaking from the early days. Just wanted to see what people thought about this 'rock your phone' thing. I was reading up on it and was relieved to find that the iphone devs had some input. The only thing is i was reading the FAQ's and came across

Is Rock Your Phone affiliated with Apple?
Rock Your Phone, Inc is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, Inc.
Apple, the Apple logo, iPhone, the iPhone logo, iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3G logo, iTouch, the iTouch logo, and iTunes are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries and are being used without permission.

Based on Apple, do you think their lawyers will sit back and watch this?
With Os 3.0 on the horizon do you think installing it is a waste of time.

    just curious

Rock your phone just seems to be additional cr*p that you need to do to buy Intelliborn's software.

Not quite sure why they aren't just doing it through Cydia.

Good Point!!! I like this guy! ^^^^

Apple already has a problem with Jailbreakin and soft whatever it is does the same thing.

They cant fight indie developers who are giving things away because there wouldn't be any copyright stuff involved. Granted... that RYP wont be selling in App store apps, i still think Apple is going to try and find a way muscle in.

GOOD LUCK RYP! You're going to need it!

Interesting concepts/apps. I must agree with others that a $12.99 price point is kinda steep, even $9.99 is high. It is interesting that since the guys at this new site/store read all the boards that they would have seen that many people did not like the idea of Cydia creating a store to charge for apps let alone charge $13 for one app. I like the Elert and Profile and the intellidial but I dont want to take the risk just yet to dload this and it get stuck on the apple logo screen, regardless if they say they have updated. I will be either waiting for a stand alone option or not at all. I'm sure that the way things are going........if there is an app listed on this rock you phone store (and if they continue to list apps for $9.99 or more) that there will be a similiar app that will show up in the cydia store for cheaper and possibly in the App Store as well. Three installers seems like to many!! Look what happened to Circuit City, there was an electronics store that offered the same stuff Circuit City did (Best Buy) but just a little cheaper and now CC is out of business, the same thing will happen here if they dont lower their prices.

And I am going to be very interested to see Apple's official response to all these "Third Party" app stores opening taking their business.

This is absolutely crap. I've had to restore twice now because of this buggy installer and desktop client. Now, I can't even get the desktop client to open. The logo pops up then just disappears. I really did want to try out a couple things but forget it. It's not worth the time I've spent trying to get it to work and the repairs I've had to do because of it. When they realize that they should support the installation package that has been supporting us, Cydia, then I might try a couple of their apps but for now I'm done. I don't care if they want to provide a free license to me for my inconvenience because I wouldn't be able to install it anyway. Yuck, plain yuck.

See, that is what I'm afraid will happen to me, and trust, I will be MAD AS HELL if I have to restore, blah, blah, blah. I wonder if there is a way to get these apps and just SSH them onto your phone (after you paid for them or just add the apps for the 10 day trial period then pay for them later). Just a thought.

My version says '1.0' and now 0.89.20 is available? I plugged my phone in and nothing changes. Elert won't install after 6-7 tries. Now Cydia isn't updating/downloading. I'm gettin tired of fooling with this. What's the latest fix, other than restoring?

An Update - 0.89.20 is now available:

We have created a simple solution for those who have Cydia installed. You no longer need to go through the soft-unlock process (which, as pointed out, overwrites your custom boot logo). Simply plug your iPhone in and it will detect if Cydia is installed. It will then take about 1.5 minutes to install.

We believe we have isolated the issue with Cydia and Rock Your Phone to an overwrite at the same time. We have taken precautions and failsafe measures to prevent the issue from occuring. We have also installed a log viewer to help with those who have had issues installing the apps with Cydia installed. We also have implemented a failsafe to prevent a rotating Apple screen.

To reiterate - we have not had issues with iPhones which have not been jailbroken. While we had tested compatibility with Cydia - as there were hundreds of combinations that are possible with Cydia installs, there were some gaps. We are dedicated to supporting all of our customers, and are happy to ensure a smooth install and use, regardless of what is installed.

Thank you all for your patience and we look forward to further reports of success.

If you had bothered to push your pea sized brain to read further, you would have read that he had stated the problem with jailbroken iPhones, and they have fixed it. You should stop complaining, and ignore this thread if you don't like it. It is BETA, it is BUGGY. live with it.

If you would pull your watermelon sized head out of your own butt you would see that even after they posted an update was done people with jailbroken phones are still having major problems. It is people like you that run off at the mouth without reading/having all the info. Kick rocks pal!!

And we all know it is in beta version right now genius!! The issue is in them saying the problems are fixed and they are not. Do you understand the words that are coming out of my mouth?!?!?

I shall go through the process of installing it, if it messes up, and I have to restore, then , hats off, on my knees, you are the god of iPhone. If not then I want you to STFU and stop bashing people who are trying to bring some variety into our lives. I for one applaud Rock your Phone for going against Apple and releasing something to directly compete against one of the iPhone's main features.

I think it is short sighted of them to not release a version of their application that can be installed with Cydia alone. Their target audience is jailbreakers. As a jailbreaker from day one, I don't want yet another hoop to jump through to set my phone up. Especially when you are running through a secondary jailbreaking program.

P.S. Guys you REALLY should NOT have called your process a "soft unlock". You just confused 500,000 people who will now think your program unlocks the 2G and or the 3G. Thanks alot! Now people like me get to correct them on this confusion.
    Hmm...

First off, I am no iPhone god, I just have common sense. If only a couple of people are saying it worked/works and the vast majority of the people are stating they are having problems, it does not take a rocket scientist to see there is a problem. And let it be said that I am not bashing RYP. And i thought that is what installer (the past) and cydia (the present and with the new cydia store, the future) were designed to be, the alternative to what apple is offering or were not offering depending on how you look at it. The fact remains that i said in previous posts that the apps offered by RYP sounded interesting and if a lot of people give good reviews on the process/apps, then I might get them but they are not worth a 'trial' run if you cant use them because you have to restore your phone. I do and will support anything that enhances my phone but not at the cost of messing up my phone or having to restore everything. Good luck with that pal!!

When I was talking about opposing Apple, I meant in a paid sort of way, Cydia and Installer were originally based on improving you phone with free tweaks. Now its not the case with Cydia. I'm sorry If I sound angry, I just have a bad temper . I successfully installed RYP, there is no conflict with Cydia on my end. I installed elert, I sent myself a test message, and I got the popup. Nothing went wrong, everything running fine. I'm gonna give the overall experience a 4/5. Its lacking that one, due to: no PPC version ( I had to use my windows PC, but I understand they are working on one) and the fact that the packages are too expensive. I surely wouldn't pay $12 for an iPhone application. It would be great if the prices were competitive. Perhaps you could lower the prices once there are more applications available?
