Canada Getting Second Hand Treatment in the First World!?!
This is painful news for all the Canadian iPhone owners. Canadian users cannot buy iPhone/iPod Touch apps or games using any means other than a credit card! This has even been clearly mentioned in the Terms of Service of the country. Check it out:
US Store Terms:
10. PAYMENT METHODS. The Service accepts credit cards, payment through your PayPal account, and iTunes Cards, iTunes Store Gift Certificates, and Allowance Account balances as forms of payment.
10. PAYMENT METHODS. The Service accepts credit cards as the form of payment.
Due to tax laws and commerce restrictions for software in Canada, customers residing in Canada may only purchase games and applications using a credit card.

Why does this matter? Most everything comes from a debit/credit card anyhow. I rarely see people using cash these days.

what if you get a gift cad on your birthday and wanna buy some apps with it? it hurts if you can't!

This isn't true.
I live in Canada, have no credit card and use iTunes cards to buy apps all the time. If you need proof I'll do a video.

I don't have an iTunes gift card right now and no incentive to buy one - if anyone can donate one I will video it, buy a like 99 cent app and then give them the user/pass to the account. Making a $25 video just doesn't seem like a proficient use of money right now :P

To be honest i dont find this really important most people dont use those cards they suck anyway.

Everyone has a friend / relative with a credit card....pay them in cash....they use their card
If your in Canada and you want an app bad enough....your gonna figure out a way to get it
Granted it is still an inconvenience.....but hey....isn't that the definition of apple? lol

to the dude who bought apps without credit card in Canada... then you're part of a lucky few... I'm in Canada, and when I used a gift card in the iTunes store, it would not let me use it for App Store. It billed my credit card.

what if you made a new account without putting in your credit card number? just using the gift card number? i dont know if you can do that and i would try but i dont have a gift card and dont really want to pay for one to test this out.

Luckily gift cards work fine for apps in the UK.
What do Apple have against the Canadians? He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.
