this is what i'd rather see it look like....but i highly doubt it.....i know a keyboard is just not apple, but if they dressed it up like a mini mackbook kb i don't think it would lose any of that "cool" factor that apple values over function sometimes. something like this could prob. grab customers from that god awful "netbook" market.

I want emoticons for SMS anyway not email, when people send me SMS's with smileys in them or I need to forward a text, Clippy does an extremely great job for forwarding SMS's.

Apple will introduce two to three major improvements, just like they did with the 3g over the 2g (eg, appstore, 3g speeds). OLED screen although it would be awesome, it is not feasible under any circumstances to produce, its too expensive and in terms of apples history they havent been used in any ipods. The new iphone I personally think will have:
- Better hardware, to enhance the gaming on the iphone (appstore is a money maker so it only makes sense to raise the bar in terms of what developers can make on it)
- Backgrounding abilities (its obvious that the way apps function now are quite limiting, and so perhaps apple will eventually allow apps like intelliscreen to hit the appstore)
- Battery life ( and why not, who can argue wtih that, and with the above mentioned, apple will need to ante up on the battery )

Not sure what I'd like in the next iPhone...
Better camera, more storage - maybe.
That design? No way! Those sharp corners in my pocket? Not for me. OLOED display? Why? I like the one I've got and don't want to pay a massive premium for OLED.
The hardware as it is is damn near perfect for me - any improvements would be minor and I doubt if they would be worth me upgrading.
All of my 'problems' with the iPhone are software related - the lack of release of proper SatNav being the only one that makes me consider changing device. If they could fix that I'd be very happy. All other things are very minor (for me - YMMV).He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

don't knock what you don't understand? you seem to be lacking a little understanding too....an eleven inch oled tv runs twenty-five hundred dollars....there is no way apple could make an oled iphone profitable...either they have to charge way too much for it retail and no one buys it, or no telcom in their right mind would provide the massive subsidy needed to move the phones.
the only way the consumer market doesn't revolt against prices going from their current level to first gen iphone prices, is with the release of a high end "pro" model, and i would bet there are a bunch of items on the list of improvements that would go into an "iphone pro" that come way before OLED.
i understand what you're saying with improved battery life, but i bet a slightly thicker model with a bigger battery, added features like 4mp cam, more ram and any number of things we've talked about in this thread, would be more economical and marketable for apple.
can anyone remember the ipods history??? where did it go early on?? bigger before smaller or the other way around?? i can't remember.
