Didn't mean push, meant background tasks which should have been released a long time ago, as promised, but haven't.
Battery life sucks on the iPhone, you can't dismiss that. It would become more of an issue with background tasks, which is presumably why we haven't seen this in 2.x as promised yet.
A newer model with an upgraded battery would be a good platform to launch 3.0, background tasks would be big enough of an advancement to move from 2.x to 3.x, and all in all would be a good enough reason for someone to upgrade.
Noone really knows right now and it's just my thoughts but it seems pretty realistic. Better than keeping your fingers crossed for some crazy front-camera-ichat-type-thingThe Original Autobot of MMiJesus couldn't turn into a fire engine

I hate to say it but i think this is a dreamer because i doubt they will have an ichat camera. Also, why would they go back to the aluminum design when it caused so many problems with the signal.. furthermore, name one device this decade that has had a removable batter. heck even their laptops are getting away from it. However cool the device looks i think it is a big dream of someone. why a square home button i mean what device has square buttons???

Am I the only one that gets annoyed when people refer to the various models as 2G and 3G? 3G refers to connection speed not 3rd generation. The iPhones that came out before the iPhone 3G were the iPhone. There was no associated speed name with it. People are assuming that because some phones came out before 3G they should ultimately be called 2G being the previous generation but they were actually the FIRST generation. So PLEASE if you have a phone with a gray metal back refer to it as iPhone, 1st generation or iPhone EDGE. If you have a phone with a shiny plastic back refer to it as iPhone 3G or 2nd generation.

I have that pet peeve too! lol
There is no such thing as a 2G iPhone
It's either a first generation iPhone and an iPhone 3G.
First Gen iPhone has EDGE speed data connection, second generation iphone has 3G speeds.Last edited by Poseidon79; 02-03-2009 at 02:25 PM.

If I read another post talking abut a 2g iphone, I think I am going to lose my f'in mind. BTW don't start calling the new one the 4g iphone unless the mofo does 4g data connections (which it will most likely not).

i gota agree the 1100mah internal batt for the 3g does suck but i upgraded mines to a 1600mah internal battery i also have the incase power slider which is another 1100mah batt (i think).... I got enough power to go through out the day. im a power user with beejive running on backgrounder and constantly textn and emails and internet i can from 730 am till 2pm on the incase power slider and then i can get up to about 10pm-12am on my 1600mah internal battery... But thats all on constant heavy use on medium use id get atleast another 4 hours.. id like to see that concept 4g iphone come to light id grab 2 in a min to add to my iphone collection... i got 2 1st gens n 2 3gs
