There are probably 4 or 5 different guides and links posted on this page. What have you tried so far? It is tough to help when we're not sure if you're running windows, mac OS X, unix, linux, minix, palm os, solaris...from there, we can begin to coach. The more data you give us, the more we can help.

Well I have a macbook pro and a windows machine i have tried it on both and get no results the phone does not give in i am about to try on windows the /etc thing you told me and do it manually i have MY activated sim card in the phone of my buddies that we are trying to activate i have his tmobile sim card in my phone and it works fine and it unlocked with no problems proivded that this model i have is a launch model and his is one that he bought yesterday....as soon as im done with the method you told me to try i will report back hopefully it works :-) thanks so much guys.

You dont need termcap for this new method. Tmobile EDGE works fine, I have tested it with no issues. Make sure you have the Unlimited Data plan at $19.99. This is NOT the blacberry or sidekick plan, neither of those will work.

You will also need to set up your EDGE settings in the iPhone, which is in Settings>General>Network>EDGE. The APN is internet2.voicestream.com, and user and pass are blank.

For those of you with Incorrect SIM issues, have you uploaded the new lockdownd file as instructed in the guide?

I have unlocked over a dozen iPhones in the last couple days, all with this new method. so yes, it does work with all iPhones.

I would advise sticking with the mac. Most of the dev software starts on the mac, so it is usually 1 step ahead with the "ease of use" factor. is the phone you are trying to unlock now activated already? If not, start with iNDependance to jailbreak, activate and install SSH/SFTP/SCP (and put back in jail). Then use the apptap installer to automatically install the Installer.app. I'm still not totally clear as to where the process is stopping...if you can clarify where you are hitting a wall, we can help walk you through the steps in more detail. Poetic Folly i hate to be a noob but where could i get the new lockdownd file i have tons of them i dont know which one is new and i doubt i have it

can anyone confirm if iTunes 7.4.1 wont screw anything up when Activating in step 1 and 2 .. and with the AppTapp Installer ..

i dont have the com.apple.CommCenter.plist file where can i get this?

lost my wifi during the unlock and have to restore the phone and it is not going well now it locks on the restoring iphone firmware part of the restore maybe i will take it to my buddies for the mac unlock since it looks alot easier

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

After trying to jailbreak my iPhone with iNdependence, the program would cite "failure" and cease jailbreaking. I tried this 4 times, each time the iPhone would request that I connect to iTunes and restore. After the 4th and final restore, it rebooted the iPhone, and immediately began scrolling command line in rapid succession. This is done in infinite and unending fashion. Restores and resets do not help.

Can anyone help? I've had my iPhone for less than and day and have spent half of the day in front of this computer. Sanity is dwindling...

Please help if you can... :'(
