QuickPwn 2.2.5 Released for Windows
Windows users can upgrade and jailbreak now too!
If you care about unlocking your iPhone 3g do not update to 2.2.1 unless you are updating custom firmware with the baseband update removed. QuickPwn can not create this custom firmware. Currently PwnageTool 2.2.5 (on OS X) is the only way to make this custom 2.2.1 .ispw with the baseband update removed. Upgrading to 2.2.1 via iTunes and then jailbreaking via QuickPwn will result in no unlock for you!
iPhone 2g owners you are safe to upgrade to 2.2.1, jailbreak with QuickPwn and unlock no problems.
iPod Touch 1g owners. You haven't had baseband worries for ages. Have fun
Windows QuickPwn 2.2.5-2 is where it's at.

Is the pwnage tool ever going to be released for windows so we don't have to rely on the generosity (or lack thereof) of MAC users to get our custom ipsws? He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

This is great thank you for offering one that works better with my friend's 1G. Turns out that russian unofficial version didn't install a Cydia which agreed with 2.2.1.....

i have tried to search for answers but i am unable to find them or maybe im looking in the wrong place. i bought an iphone 3g it has version 2.2 on it i have never unlocked an iphone only jailbroken my ipod touch but that was back in 1.1.4. with the new 2.2.1 update i did not know if i should update my phone i opened the quckpwn and it says "This version of QuickPwn supports firmware v2.2.1, v2.2, v2.1, and v2.0.x" so is this saying that it is ok to update my iphone from v2.2 to v2.1 before i unlock it or do i need a custom FW v2.1 to unlock it with this. thanks for the help in advance sorry if this is not in the correct place.

Download the update through apple. Then use then use the update they gave you. If you are using an unlock you are going to need to have a mac guy do it for you. If I hadn't just sold my mac I would do it but ya, not good.
