But that is the firmware that I use when pwnage tool browses for firmware, correct? I know that pwnage tool actually builds a custom firmware to restore from. Did I do something wrong?

yea. WE'RE asking for the one ALREADY PATCHED 2.2.1 firmware for the 3g WITHOUT the baseband update... Can you post one?

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I had the same problem. I restored the phone to the default settings, and re-ran PwnageTool in the non "expert" mode (basic?).
That restored my signal.
What exactly are you asking for, the custom ipsw that pwnagetool created? How would I know if it's without the baseband update?Last edited by alexcutter; 01-30-2009 at 04:51 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

When you use pwnagetool you are creating a custom ispw...Which is basically your own firmware...Its like your personal 2.2.1 package...It gives you the option in expert mode not to upgrade the baseband...Also when you have finished pwning your phone and you go to settings if you did upgrade the baseband it will say 2.28.0 if you did upgrade it it will say something like 2.33.0 or something like that...the unlock for the 3g only works on baseband 2.28.0...

Why is everyone asking for someone else to spend time to create a custom firmware file without the baseband upgrade. PwnageTool for both Mac and Windows has been out for hours now. Anyone should be able to create their own custom firmware.

PLEASE!!!!!I need help...I just got a 3G 8Gb iphone...it was on on 2.0 and I cannot figure out how to upgrade the baseband to 2.28..it is currently on 1.48.02...How do I upgrade the both the baseband and the firmware to unlock? If I upgrade with iTunes...i get the new 2.30 baseband, if I use custom firmware that does not undate the base then I stay where I am ....Please advice or link to the correct file for 2.2 unlock, with 2.28 baseband. Thank you alot!!!

Download the 2.2 firmware for the 3g and restore it with that version. Then jailbreak with that 2.2 update to get the 2.28.00 baseband. DO NOT TRY THE 2.2.1 FIRMWARE! IT WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO UNLOCK! go to quickpwn.com for more info on that stuff or search this forum.

When you create the custom firmware, do NOT add any packages or sources to Cydia, that is what's causing your reboots.
I'm downloading the firmware right now, but it will take about 20 minutes to download. I'll post when it finishes downloading and then I'll post a link when the custom firmware is complete."In computer networking, a Media Access Control address (MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or network interface cards (NICs) by the manufacturer for identification, and used in the Media Access Control protocol sub-layer." Thanks for the reply, but I haven't add any of the sources or anything extra to Cydia besides the default stuffs.
