Apple Planning Host of iPhone Updates!
I caught this on the appleinsider site:
While the more cautious phone buyers have stayed away from the iPhone for numerous practical reasons, one source claims that Apple's handset is due to solve most of these problems with upgrades in coming months -- many of which will arrive with or before the company's Mac OS X upgrade...

Great article. Makes perfect sense, and I sure hope its true. Built in hooks for the iPhone and cover flow browsing. I am looking forward to future updates from Apple...

maybe they'll fix the bug in the google maps that kicks you out and sends you to the home screen

I've had google maps throw me out to the home screen a few times and so has safari for that matter. I'd been attributing that to a questionable wireless router I've been having trouble with at work.

Nope, thats not to do with the router. Thats happening to everyone. Seems when iPhone can't handle something, it sends you home.

Please pardon my ignorance, but does ichat support mean that SMS messaging will finally allow pictures?

No, iChat support has nothing to do with MMS.

That's a reaon I didn't mind buying this now, I know Apple is fairly reliable for updates. More so than many vendors are.

true...i'm down with apple and their solid hardware/software packages. I would much rather be kicked to home every once in awhile than to have to deal with spyware/viruses and BSOD's

iPhone seems like they will make great software and hardware updates. I wanted to wait to get the iPhone until the hardware was better ( like faster internet )...I do work for this guy and he gave me an 8G iPhone as a bonus and when life hands you a free iPhone...you take it.
I CAN NOT! wait for the updates and possibilities of the iPhone!I hate windows..

I'd get an unlocked version but I'm a little scared of the compatibility of the unlock and future FW updates...

I wouldn't count on any of these changes becoming reality.
They were based off of this forum post on the Howardforums, which I also read back in June and thought was highly questionable.
Essentially the bottom line is as follows: Apple rumors are always around. If you hear one, don't believe it... ...ever. It may come true, but if it does its pure luck. Apple is very tight on company information, and people have been fired for much much less than this rumor indicates an insider said.
This article is pure speculation. I'm not saying none of this will happen. It might, but I'd be willing to bet my cohones on the fact that the original forum post is pure speculation and not any real insider leak.
That being said, from this point on, it doesn't matter anymore what apple develops. 3rd party development has already been kickstarted, and its only a matter of time until the open source community provides these features and more. Some of them can already be obtained by installing installer.app and browsing the available applications.
One more time, Remember, NEVER BELIEVE APPLE RUMORS.
