Search Google for "Custom Firmware 3.1.2" if you don't have a Mac and are using Windows!

The new update .95-7 available works great try it out. You can copy text in websites. Click and hold on specific parts of text or click and hold outside of text to copy all. Everything else works like it used to. Haven't had any crashes with safari or anything else. Great Job!!
Dirty as I wanna be!

Works for copying Text in Safari now just press and hold the area you want to copy and it will prompt asking you to copy!
Though I know this would be more awesome if when the prompt comes up asking you to Copy or click Stack you see what your about to copy and within that area you can then select the area you want to copy if you don't want to copy everything!

This update has been very shaky for me. When i'm in my RSS app, anything i click causes the Copy/Paste popup. Ugh.

So I'm not sure if this is clippy related but as soon as I updated it I noticed this problem.
When clicking and holding the 123 button the normal menu pops up, but when it is released it wont allow me to touch the bottom half of the screen. I either need to lock and unlock real quick or re-spring.. anyone else have this problem?17" MacBook Pro

I'm still waiting on the non-beta. hClipboard has worked great for me from the start. It also can save passwords now.

The update is pretty bad now, I hate how it comes up with the cut, copy, paste menu thing whenever you highlight something. I liked this app because I could highlight something and just delete it, it wasn't so much that I need the copy and paste itself. I also don't like how it asks to copy everything you hold your finger on, it always pops up when I go into the appstore and scroll down and alot of other things. Hopefully it will be better in future versions

I've had the same problem with the bottome half of the screen locking up after invoking clippy via 123 button, especially in quickgold. It also keeps popping up all the time in emails. I also use hClipboard for passwords and usernames, whilst using 1Password with hClipboard, stupid clippy pops up and locks up the bottom half of the screen. Have to exit app or respring. So annoying!
Also you cannot just highlight certain sections of text in websites like the bookmarklets do with hClipboard.
Like another user said, the highlighting option is good as to delete bulk text, but as it always pops up whilst highlighting, thats annoying too. Hope the updates and the final version work better.
Think i may uninstall Clippy until the final version. I'll be using hClipboard for now as the password feature is good. Both are good apps tho. ;-)
Found a temporary measure for highlighting text. I've installed an old version of Clippy 0.94, this now allows highlighting and i use hClipboard for copy and paste of the highlighted text. No more stupid pop up screens! ;-)Last edited by Chr1s_888; 03-01-2009 at 06:06 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Definitely more bugs in this .95-7 update. Author needs to check interaction with Pocket Tunes app (official app available from App store) which is an MP3/AAC+ radio streaming app. Every time I try to start any station (a simple tap on the station's name) Clippy menu pops up.
Also, when I am editing a station entry, if I hold the "123" to invoke Clippy, it freezes the keyboard and I cannot type anymore. I have to force-close the app and restart it to regain keyboard control. I believe this also happens in other apps for what I've been reading above.
I think Clippy should only be invoked exclusively if you hold your finger for one second longer than what's needed to pop up the "magnifying glass bubble", like after you highlight text and you hold your finger still on the same spot for one more second, or when you hold your finger to a text message. This way we can eliminate problems/conflicts with the keyboard freezing, pressing 123, etc. Any other methods of invoking Clippy are unnecessary, like the finger swipe, which has only caused more trouble than it's worth.Last edited by bobolito; 03-03-2009 at 11:13 PM.

I've been using Clippy for a couple of months and keep it upgraded. I'm loving it, but also have some feedback.
I love Clippy ... it makes my life SO much easier when it comes to using my company's VPN. I have a web site that stores tokens for me and I can use Clippy to copy/paste the token into the VPN dialog. If Clippy worked nowhere else I would still be ecstatic about it.
However I am also a big user of the RSS Player (1.2) application (the App Store replacement for the Podcaster application). There is a 2-stream free version of RSS Player so you should be able to test these without paying.
BUG: First ... I'm encountering a generic bug where I can't delete things from my Stack. It shows them deleting properly, but next time I pull up the stack they are back.
BUGS: In RSS Player I see a couple of issues:
* When I am in the app and in "edit" screen (to re-order, change options, or delete a RSS podcast feed) it has a "click to multi-select" mode that seems to ALWAYS invoke Clippy's double-tap. Painful.
* When I am in RSS Player and on the screen to add a new feed (using the "+" sign) I can paste from Clippy's stack BUT if I do then I can't click the "Search" button to submit the pasted results. Only way to clear this is to close the app and load it again, and then type the URL manually.
SUGGESTIONS: Some other features I would like to see:
1) A "permaStack" where I can move things to, possibly with a password option (and I do mean option ... I might not want to use it but I can see it as useful). That way we could store sensitive stack items. This would become my defacto password manager. If room the permaStack could be accessed from the main button ... otherwise it could be a button always available from the current Stack interface.
2) An app that lets me "tune" Clippy a bit (like the app that "Backgrounder" uses to set preferences). Or just a "Settings" preferences entry for Clippy. Things that I would want to do here:
... a) enable/disable Clippy (I sometimes have memory issues, so it would be handy to turn off Clippy like other memory resident apps)
... b) Stack editor ... so that I can manage my stack without needing to invoke Clippy somewhere else. This would be a good place to manage the "permaStack" mentioned above, too. Things that a stack editor would do (some of these are already available, the editor would just be a quick way of getting there):
...... i) let us insert new items into the stack
...... ii) delete items from the stack
...... iii) move items from the Stack to the permaStack
...... iv) reorder the stack
...... v) manage the permaStack (in the same way as above)
...... vi) manage the password option on the permaStack
... c) Since Clippy can never guarantee it will work with ALL applications, and some applications will never need it, an option to enable/disable Clippy for specific applications (again similar to the Background preferences application).
... d) If possible I'd like to also be able to tailor per-app functions even more, so that I could disable the double-tap for some apps (like RSS Player). And possibly define other apps as "paste only" apps so that Clippy can be invoked to paste but will never try to copy (would fix a few other issues).

Have you tried hClipboard?

Probably not a code bug, just a bad workflow. I figured out what I was doing to cause this.
1) Copy something to the stack that I want to paste into another location
2) Instead of using "paste" I say to myself "I know I have things to clear from the stack, too, so I'll do that first"
3) Delete a few things from the stack
4) While still in the stack, click on the item I want to paste
It is 4) that does this. Since I don't "close" the stack the items remain. If I explicitly close stack after deleting then they do get deleted. Then open clippy again to paste.
Will give it a shot
Wow. 10 minutes later and unless hClipboard suddenly bombs on me (or ends up being more of an issue for memory) I've definitely converted for now. Thanks
