You poor sod. One day you'll get decent speeds - but I guess living where you do probably has other advantages! He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Ok, I made a statement in another thread that I did not see the need to update my 2.1 jailbroken phone to 2.2 (I know I can save all my current info/settings like contacts, apps (cydia or appstore), etc) because most of the updated material are things that are so small we dont usually notice them. Now this news/rumor comes out, glad I did not update.
Now dont get me wrong, I could easily update, pwn, jailbreak but that is such a hassle since I have my phone damn near perfect for me (plus I used a mac to upgrade from 1.1.4 to 2.1 since the windows versions were flaky (IMO). If I am wrong in my statement and I REALLY need 2.2 (now 2.2.1 i guess), someone plese let me know, I have done all my learning about jailbreaking/unlocking/modding/etc the iphone/touch by myself so I am also looking to learn more.

this is not even a good update why would i update and pwn my phone again!!! and install all my apps and themes all over again it seems pointless ill just wait until a more substantial firmware version comes out
lol for me the only difference with 2.2 and 2.1 is streetview (install it from cydia) and phone numbers display incorrectly (there is a fix on this on cydia) lol i have 2.2 running on my ipod touch because i need it since i develop apps and i want to test them on the latest firmwares.

Well, I have already replaced my SMS and Mail apps with third party ones, and syncing isn't a problem. So theyre not features that will be noticed even if they were any good.NeO

let's be honest here, they are releasing this because with 2.2 the iPhone can be unlocked.

Apple is getting ***** by the updates.
Inspire me dammit!!!

If the next firmware update provides the ability to tether, record video, landscape SMS/Email, multiple email attachments, add/remove themes, Bluetooth A2DP and Bluetooth File Transfer then I'll be impressed. If not then there's no reason not to jailbreak. After all we can get most of these things on our jailbroken iPhones which is surprising considering Apple still hasn't been able to provide at least one of these in an update to compete with competitors since the first iPhone was released.

Apple has to fix the email soon I figure. They have totally dominated the consumer market at this point. If you are buying a upscale consumer focused phone, you buy an iphone - I don't think the storm changed that and I'm not sure the new Palm will. The big money lying out there for them is the corporate market. I would expect this to be their next major update. It needs to include Cut and Paste, better email, and maybe the ability to save office docs or something like that.
I would kinda think, give the rumors etc, that the iphone will head a bit more corporate and the touch will become more of a gamer's device. But I could be wrong. Whatever they do, I hope they do it soon.

Well lets be honest here. Apple doesn't care about what the consumer want. They doooo what they please. Well i know this is off topic but copy and past is available in cydia. THIS PROGRAM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
