Cydia Searchable / Browsable Online

You all know Cydia. You use it every day, or at least every week if you're less app-hungry. Its home to Cycorder, Backgrounder, dTunes, PdaNet, WinterBoard (and hundreds nearing thousands of themes), SBSettings, and more.
We've now got Cydia indexed and searchable online at modmyi.com/cydia. Of course you can't download anything to your iPhone from there - Cydia has a great searching function built-in, and if you're ON your iPhone you should use it.
If you've ever wanted to browse Cydia from a larger screen, or check what version of what app is most current, but you don't have your iPhone with you... etc, then this is for you.
Comments and ratings will be added within a week (in development now, but we thought we'd let you guys see what's up there so far) as well as many new additions (want to see the same page you see in Cydia? coming soon). Oh, and of course it will all work with your existing ModMyi.com login info. We're working hard to get this smooth and useful to all of you.
RSS feed for all the new Cydia apps, as well as for updates and changes? Sure thing - we'll have that out this week as well, or beginning of next. Only want a feed for new apps? Got that coming too.
modmyi.com/cydia
Try it out. Let us know what features you'd like added, tweaked, additions, etc and we'll work hard on 'em.

so it is only for viewing?
What about downloading for making custom themes or just so we can finally download yellowsn0w and manual install without wifi?
Tbis is a major issue and still has not been addressed

I seem to be amazingly dense today - I am missing something that is probably right in front of my face and I really don't like to ask.
Please don't flame me for my ignorance...
But what is the address of the MMI repo?He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Thanks - I can find dTunes so must already have the repo D'Oh!
if you hover over "index of" in my original post you can see what I typed (except the first one didn't have the trailing /) - it must have been translated when I hit post! Strange, but true.
Thanks for your help.He who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Now for something really on topic...:
This is a pretty nice feature to the site, and its a lot faster than cydia on my phone.
One feature I would like to see is a small snippet from the packages' description under its name like in cydia. Thanks for your consideration!"Spaceships don't come equipped with rear view mirrors..." -Andre Benjamin the 3000th

What about previews or thumbnails? At least for the themes. Not everyone is searching for specific names. Visuals will def help a lot of ppl find things they like.

We will not be providing manual downloads from here, as the files are debian packages anyway - you need debian or Cydia on your iPhone to use them.
If you want to download a theme, download it from Cydia and SSH to your iPhone. Manual install of yellowsn0w is up to the yellowsn0w distributers (the Dev Team).
That is already there - check uh... ModMyi.com for instance. Name is bold and in blue, and right underneath is "Organ is a music player skin created by MaDSouL and ported to 2.2 by NINJ4." which is the description for that package.
Or are you referring to the home page display?
You mean in the multiple view? The problem with thumbnails is we'd have to download every package and assemble a screenshot on the fly - not gonna happen. About the best we can do without you clicking the package (and seeing the screenshot page then) is put icons by each one letting you know what section its in.
I realize now elr0y7 must have been referring to description snippets in the main multiple package listing view - that's a good idea. We'll work on that, which will help as well.
EDIT: all that optimize/unrelated crap is moved to http://www.modmyi.com/forums/site-su...izing-mmi.htmlLast edited by Kyle Matthews; 01-14-2009 at 12:15 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
