Just to put my 2 cents in on the price argument: if you really want all the extras such as GPS and Bluetooth than I wouldn't recommend buying this, if your really going to drop over $500 for a radio there are a lot more options out there that include GPS and Bluetooth built in. No it might not have the full integrity with the iPhone/ iPod use but you can get a radio with a bunch more overall features and save yourself over 600 bucks if your really wanting all the extras ( that's another iPhone I should mention
) although if you already have a GPS to hook link with it or don't want and are not worried about a CD player than I would definately give this a second look. Sorry such a long post but I'm really into my car audio/ video and hate for people to buy something and not be satisfied in the end.....oh by the way, the Bluetooth add on can always be found on eBay usually over half off if not more.
Come on 32GB iPhone!!!!!! Please Apple, I have over 1,000 songs and let alone movies that hardly ever get to see daylight

I work at Best buy and I think this isn't worth it imo and it looks like ****. First of all this isn't the first touch screen to be compatible with the iPhone. There is already one with a much bigger screen that has iPhone controls on the touch screen. Why make a touch screen so tiny 4.3 is a joke, and put such big *** buttons on the side? The only thing is that it can't read iPhone videos through USB.
right now in my car I have an IDA-X100 and it works great. But if I were going to get a double din touch screen I would want it to be a 6 inches screen at least. This is garbage imo, i'll wait for better models.

Good price! I think I am going to wait a year till they come out with a 6.5 or 7inch full touch screen. Good info tho to know what direction Alpine is heading.

Alot of newer cars are doing away with the din completely it seems. Its usually a bunch of knobs and buttons right in the dash that arent easily removed. My 04 Mazda6 required removing the HVAC controls and everything. PITA. My 09 looks like it be easier and theres already a double din conversion kit.
I wouldnt be surprised to see alpine in the future release something similiar with a motorized flip out screen for single din tho.

I'll stick with my Kenwood - DNX5120

It has everything that deck has, but with a gorgeous 6.1 inch touch screen. It works perfectly with my iPhone, including all videos, music, and podcasts. It's bluetooth pairs instantly with the iPhone. The deck has full Garmin navigation, as well as a built in CD/DVD player. It has the ability to integrate with Sirius/XM and HDradio modules made for it, and they work fantastic, too.
I am not affiliated at all with Kenwood - but I am a very pleased owner of the deck!Last edited by tsatryan; 01-09-2009 at 05:13 PM.

I once prayed to God for an iPhone, but quickly found out He didn't work that way...so I stole an iPhone and prayed for His forgiveness.

as they say, "size matters." Sorry for the typo... I corrected it!
As for begging to be stolen, any would-be thieves would have to get through other "deterrents" I have before even touching my stereo. I feel pretty secure with it!

Hafa!
No, most cars are double din OEM. Most cars when dingle din s are installed look terrible and they usually have to have some lame cubby hole built into the face plate to make up for the empty space... thats why single dins always look kind of hokey. I use the Pioneer Avic D3 in my Audi A4 Avant and the thing worx sexy time with my iphone and my ipod etc.... If this thing came with discless nav and customizable coloring (to make it look more OEM) then i would get it in a heart beat.
BTW, i just joined this to reply to this thread and saw you were Chamorro!!!! Awesome!

Not to steal the thread, but the Kenwood has both discless nav and customizable coloring.

Way to read my first sentence and misinterpret it. Where did I say Alpine makes crap? I said this specific model LOOKS. I got an Alpine deck, 4 alpine speakers, alpine type r subwoofer, alpine m500 amp and alpine RCA cables...Why would I have that in my car is I thought alpine is crap?
There's nothing really special about this deck. As other stated if you want all the options you will have to pay extra and that tiny screen and those giants buttons on the side are not helping at all. Stick with a big touch screen.Last edited by M4tt Dam0n; 01-10-2009 at 02:40 PM.
