No you didn't win. Quickpwn is a cutdown version of pwnage that just jailbrakes - with pwnage you can cook your own FW.
Pwnage is available on MAC only but quickpwn is available on both.

Or so I believe....

I am having a little bit of trouble upgrading to 2.2 .....

I am not getting the lil cartoon character. My iPhone shows the standard usb to itunes icon instead. Also, when I originally pwned the device, i chose to keep the apple logo instead of the pineapple.... Is that why???

Like I said, I'm not gettin the Russian Steve Jobs (RSJ), but I am pretty sure it is because I do not have the Pineapple logo (I chose not to put it on, when originally pwned it on a PC). Although I am not getting the RSJ it looks like I can still continue with the rest of the guide. My MAC still recognizes the iphone in recovery mode but just the standard logo instead of the RSJ

These instructions are for pwning 2.2 - not upgrading to 2.2
I would restore the 2.2 ipsw in iTunes first and then follow these instructions -or is that what you have done?

That's what these instructions basically are aren't they, how to pwn it AND THEN how to upgrade it? I used pwnage tool to create a custom 2.2 firmware. Then, according to the instructions, i gotta restart the iPhone in restore mode (not seeing RSJ), and in iTunes, browse for the custom firmware I created w/ the prog.

Make sense?

I believe these instructions are to jailbrake a phone that has already been upgraded to 2.2.
But I am not sure -that is my understanding.

What firmware are you on? I'm not familiar with basebands but if you're on 2.2.1 you're baseband is permanently upgraded and there's no unlock as of yet.

No, downgrading firmware will not restore your old baseband either. Sorry.

You are on 2.30.03 which is the BB that comes with FW 2.21 and can't be downgraded.

I have an AT&T Sim card but it's not the iphone sim card. it works if i leave it regular and don't jailbreak it, but when i jailbreak it the signal bars are just ...... . Is there a way I can use my AT&T sim card for a jailbroken iphone?

What on earth makes you give him false hope like this?

There will be no unlock for BB 2.30.03 until FW3.0 comes out and even then you might have to wait until they unlock FW 3.0
